This happened to me a few years ago...

I was visiting my parents in rural NSW. I got up late one morning, the house was empty. Mum had left a note on the kithchen table saying they had gone to the markets and would be home around lunch time....... I had a coffee and went to the toilet. Whilst in the toilet I heard dad's car come up the drive way. The dogs went off as usual. I heard the front door open and my parents voices as they came in and greeted the dogs abd put groceries on the table etc. I thought I'd better hurry up and get out of the toilet as they were likely to need it after their drive... I flushed and came out.

The house was empty...... no car in the drive way....... door still closed and locked.... dogs still and calm in their pen... no sign that anyone was there.

My parents arrived home about half an hour later... they had no idea what I was talking about.... I am just confused, it was all clearly audible, not jus a sound or 2 but the entire soundtrack of them ariving home, clear and unmistakeable, yet no one else was there...

Anyone else experienced this kind of thing?

I have had a similar thing happen to me once although people were not coming home, they were leaving the house.

I had gone to bed so had all other family members, (Mother and Sister) I don’t know the time but it was late after 11-12pm. Anyway I am lying in bed and I am suddenly awake to the sound of High heel shoes in the house walking around, the sound of the shoes comes from the other side of the house where my Mother and Sister bedrooms are.

OK, I thought ……………either my Mother or Sister has had a phone call from a friend asking for them to come out partying with them or someone needed assistance late at night maybe a lift.

Nothing strange about that I said to myself but why at this dam hour of the night.

I lay there listening while the sound of the High heels walked through the house, down to the front of the house where I was, I hear the door open, then close rather abruptly, then the sound of the High heels going down the set of wooden stairs we had outside our house and down the driveway.

Odd hour to be going out I thought to myself and went back to sleep.

Later on during the next day I said to both my Mother and Sister “who went out late last night” they said no one did. I said “someone did I heard them”, they both said “no one left the house”???

The whole thing of hearing the High heel shoes walking through the house the door opening and closing, then walking down the steps sounded very real, something I cannot explain.

Maybe you fell asleep on the toilet and dreamt it

lol... reasonable assumption.... but no.. preety sure I did not fall asleep on the toilet.

Interestingly I have just been reading aa paperback called 'It happened to me' Real life tales of the paranormal vol 1 Ordinary peoples extraordinary true stories from the pages of the fortean times. In chapter 3 'double trouble' in a section called 'ghosts of presage' there are a couple of stories basically describing exactly what happened to me above. In Iceland they call this phenomena 'fylgja' and in Norway it is called 'vardogr'....... it is nice to know that it happens to others and not just me!
