WHO'S AFRAID
some of these topics bring up a similar story:that is,..stories of people who wont go out at night, wont drive on certain roads or a combination of similar phobias.they are often described, but with no detailed reason.could those among us who have a similar tale of someone,or their own story of fear, find and post some details of what has scared them....like a truckdriver who wont drive through the pilliga?...why?....what happened to him,or what story has him concerned?

A lot of the truck drivers have camped for the night and had their covers ripped off and the load scattered, particularly vegies or other foodstuff.
Others have been checking their trucks and loads and been subjected to a bellowing scream from close by.
Cousin Clarry tells about when he was a big lad and went with a group of local motorcycle enthusiasts
to pick up a bike.
They travelled along bush tracks through the Pillaga Scrub, and had to tow the new bike back. They only had a piece of rotton rope and it kept breaking.
During one such stoppage a bellowing scream (his words) came from nearby and a big shape showed up through the scrub.
One bikie has a 125 two stroke and he never went over 20 MPH.
Clarrie jumped onto the back of the other bike and they all took off flat strap.
The 125 had no trouble keeping up with the other bikes.
One of Clarry's nephews had a transport and when in company with another truck they stopped in the Pillaga to check their loads, nephew was leading.
All at once their came a roar and almost similtaneously the following truck went past with wheels spinning,
tarps flapping, and loose ropes flying.
Nephew was only seconds behind when he was on his way.
They did not stop until they were well clear of the scrub,
Tarps ripped, load damaged but in no way was he stopping while in the scrub area.
Stories like that would put anyone off stopping while passing through the Pillaga Scrub.
Cheers Wally

bmmi, I haven't stopped there myself, (its on my list of things to do before I die, but not alome ! LOL!) I can only tell of rummors and second hand tales. Truck drivers that have pulled over for a rest stop or to fix loads, change tyres, as Wally says, claim to have been menaced, had things thrown at them, been growled at from the scrub and even had the cab shaken. There are paranormal phenomena associated with the area also.
I'm not fat.....I'm just fluffy
