Laser Beams

Unread post by hunter hunted »

Hi All
Just thought I would put it out thier.Do you think Yowies can see Laser Pointers. Not point of origin nor point of contact but the Beam itself.Just had to ask as I am thinking of setting up some cams with Laser beam activation.
Have already worked out how to do it just waiting for the dvr recorder to arrive from overseas.

Cheers Nigel

Hi Nigel,

Funny you should ask that today. I've just returned from Woodford Folk Festival where i spent ages watching the laser display. Those of course are high power lasers. I have no idea whether yowies can see low power laser light. However i think if there is enough smoke, dust or water vapour in the air even a low power beam becomes visible to humans. I have a feeling that even rain drops passing through a beam may make it intermittently visible due to refraction of the light. You might want to check this out before proceeding.

Cheers

Hi Gareth
I know they are visible in dust ,rain and fog.But was wondering if it was a clear day or night if I was unable to see wether they could.I think I will just go ahead and see what happens .Cant hurt to try.
I have a DVR Recorder that will record for 10 to 40 days continuess.Depending on what setting .
Will be placeing this once it arrives also playing with some high end Bugs I have.

Hi Nige - I was thinking about this. I thought you could consider before putting any recording equipment in place maybe setting up the laser onsite, pointing at something reflective (mini disco ball?).

If they can see it, it might spark some interest - even if they can't, then whatever you've got hanging with the laser pointing at might still draw them in.

Leave it onsite for a while before you switch in the recording gear... Just a thought.
