Hollywoods efforts regarding big hairy giants have been pretty woeful to date. I cant even think of 5 movies featuring our matey. Lets see theres Chewbacca of Star Wars fame, ah the sasquatch dvd with Lance Henrickson ( good actor).... I remeber picking up a video titled Something...something...Boogey Creek...or... Swamp...which had a secret, I never saw it but my impression was bigfoot was in it, then Peter Jackson's king Kong is on the way! Should be a mother of a movie, It's gonna be intresting to see his explanation of Kong, a remanant of gigantopithicus? or bubbles the chimp who ate too many radioactive bannanas, actually that brings to mind Mighty Joe Young with Charlize Theron and then theres the original black and white KIng Kong, ok so how manys that? 6 that i can think of. Any way, so if you were to make your own movie (think unlimited budget, special fx galore, exotic locations and a cast of 'A' list actors, I'd have Tom Cruise starring as the canadian horseman) how would you go about it? or what as a viewer have you wanted to see in a movie bout giant anthropoids (harry and the hendersons thats 7) Would there be a love story element say Titanic meets Godzilla, OR a Predator type shoot em up movie? maybe a slow meaningful drama like Gorillas in the Mist?
I'd have in the climatic scene, a yowie pursued to a huge underground cave where we discover that he is a remanant of the nephilim!
So there you go I'm RDO today and the lawns are to wet to mow. ish

Hi magog, I have only ever seen Sasquatch with Lance Hendrickson, it's not to bad.
I reckon an Australian movie about the Yowie would be good.

As for the things I would like to see in a Bigfoot movie, a fair bit of action and suspense and also a skirmish between a band of bigfeet and a band of heavily armed soldiers.

Maybe the movie could be set in a war scenario, with the troops being in more danger from the bigfeet than they are from the enemy.
It would be set in heavily dense forest or jungle, and the Bigfeet would be attacking them because the troops are entering into thier remote domain.

The troops would be slowly picked off by the Bigfeet and only one would survive with no evidence, but he never tells anyone what happened for fear of ridicule.

Thats what I would like see.

Hey natureman, you're right! an australian movie would be good to see, I'd like to see a period piece set in early settler Australia, an adventure involving both settlers and aboriginals and the mystery of the yowie.
You should check out Predator with Arnie if you havent seen it allready. Its a classic action movie and its got everyone of your specifications met.

Yeah your right magog, Predator is like the movie I suggested, and I agree it is a Classic I have seen it many times...

What you said about the Aussie movie sounds good, a period piece would really set the scene.

Anymore ideas on the plot?

The Legend of Boggy Creek and Boggy Creek 2, are a couple of my all time favorites! Bit dated, and the actings bad, but then the company was originally set up by the guy who grew up in Fouke Arkansaw(?). Half his family seem to be in the second movie, LOL!
Snowbeast is good, but not really a Sasquatch, more 'beasty', Sasquatch, the Legend of Bigfoot, is a doccodrama, which I found quite interesting. If you want a really good laugh, see "Snow Creature", filmed in 1954, and is so bad its funny! They finally capture a Yeti, and it escapes from the US docks while custums try to decide whether or not it needs a Visa to enter the country!
The only drawback is you have to get these movies from the USA, I found them on Amazon, you will need a multi-region DVD player to view them~!

Easily done. Just re-make Dog Soldiers. In bigfoot lore, it's actually happend. Look up Ape Canyon.

Just make that into a movie. I'd watch it, for sure.

I can't understand why no one has made a movie about "Ape Canyon", it really would make a 'classic' horror movie!

Do any of you remember an Aussie movie from about 20 years ago which was about this family that rented a holiday house for a couple of weeks near a billabong? Turned out to have a yowie/bunyip type creature living in it. Wasn't a bad movie, but I can't remember what it was called , so I can't go look for it!

I would like to see a movie about Ape Canyon aswell, that would be great.
And that Australian movie sounds good, I hope some one can tell us the name of it.

It seems Sasquatch has just appeared in another film.

Let's hope the fame doesn't go to his head.

(Everybody just pretend this is red):

Went to see King Kong last night, loved it! Its a 3 hr movie and takes around 40, 50 minutes before the running and screaming starts but its worth the wait. We get to see a giant hairy bipedal in his primeval habitat, something we all share a common intrest in.
There is an irrelevant sub plot and a couple of scenes that couldve been kept for the directors cut and taken with the slow start I'd give this movie 3.5 stars outta 5.
Peter Jackson's rendition of Kong is pretty damn good.

Now if only I could get this footage off my phone..........
