Date: June 31st, 2013
Time: 4.30pm
Myself and a mate had finished fossicking for crystals. We were a fair distance away from the vehicle, probably 150m away from the vehicle, we couldn’t see the vehicle. We could smell kind of a smokey smell, like an electrical smell and all this. It was real bad. It was around 2 O’Clock – somewhere around in that time period.
I’ve never smelt that smell before and I thought it might have been a pig because there are pigs in the area, but my mate has done a lot of pig hunting and he said that’s definitely not a pig.
It was like, you know how a computer blows up and you get that electrical type smell around it. A bit like that. And there was this wet dog, dead dog kind of smell as well. It was very strong. It was there for around 15 – 20 minutes.
We didn’t think that much of it, just kept digging until it was time to go home.
There were a couple of sounds like there was someone near the car, but it’s a bit hard for someone to be out near the car when we’re right out in the bush, you know. I stood up to have a look, but there was no one there. There were a few noises like things being flung through the bush, but I thought it may be a kangaroo or a pig or something.
But when we actually got back out on the road heading home back towards Inverell, we saw this thing.
We were driving along, average speed, about 100, and we just saw this thing, you know, just standing on the side of the road. We slowed down to take a better look and we could see him running through the bush.
We had a look and he was really really hairy, and the face and the chin was too big to be Human. I guess it would have been 100 metres away on our left hand side. Right on the edge of the road. It was good daylight.
I’m 6’4”, this would have been seven to seven and a half feet tall. At first it was looking around a bit, and when it looked at the car it just took off. We had a good view of it before it took off. Probably about 15 seconds or so before it took off.
I weight about 120kg, this thing weighed double or triple my weight.
We could see the legs, see the arms, the arms came down a bit past its waist, the legs were thick and he was pretty tall. It was a brownish reddish blacky colour. Darker below. Face was more reddish.
The hair was long, woolly and un kept. Maybe 2 – inches long. The hair was everywhere.
The face looked ape'ish. Hair all over the face. Like a gorilla type of thing. Like what you’d see on TV, you know. Masculine in the face.
It was solid. It was thick. It had a big head – bigger than mine! Roundish Human type head, just big.
We slowed down so we could see what it was and we were watching it run through the bush.
It ran like a Human but extraordinarily fast. I couldn’t run that fast through the bush without falling over. It was moving.
The scrub was pretty open, so we could see it.
I spoke to my Grandfather because he used to mine out there and he said he’s seen them too. You hear the Myths, but when you see it, its like whoa.
I can’t believe I’ve actually seen one.
