Was this a cult? Baffled.

I woke up very early one morning in 2001. I was 5 years old. It would have been about 5am because the sun wasn't up yet. I lived near a couple of hectares of bushland in Sydney at the time (specifically in the Parklea area). I had an eerie feeling overwhelm me which motivated me to peep through my blinds. I saw several men, (I cannot remember what they were wearing - it was pretty generic). The most memorable character I saw was a little girl. She was wearing a pink and white plaid dress, accessoried with a matching plaid bow in her curly blonde hair. She really stood out. Here's the weird part, they were ALL wearing white masks with no face holes. Much like slenderman's mask. They drove away in a black SUV. It was not a dream because I remember walking downstairs, seeing my dad ironing his shirt. I remember watching thunderbirds after the event happened so that suggests it was not a weekday.
It may have been a few days later, my brother and I were wondering near a creek amongst the bushland. We found a rifle sitting near the creek. It was black, with a red strip on the barrel(s). It had a number written in white font too. My brother threw it in the creek though. I am not sure if those two incidences are connected, since I was living near farmland and a farmer could have frivolously disposed of his gun.
Thoughts? I am very interested to hear if anyone else has had similar experiences. Thanks in advance.
