Obviously, I'm very new to your site.
Some great stories, and tales of adventures - I also love a good adventure!

I'm also a complete skeptic, but would very much like to find that Yowie is an actual thing, and maybe see one myself on day.

Now my question:
From reading many threads here, there seems to be a few different "types" of yowies, and I'd like to know which one more commonly accepted here, or which one (or more) are you likely to find out in the bush

1. A type of homonid or human hybrid yet to be discovered by science?
2. An aboriginal dreamtime entity?
3. A paranormal entity, such as a poltergeist?
4. Other?

Skeptics are welcome around here as long as you don't start layin down the law .

Obviously it's a very difficult thing to comprehend that there is a hairy apeman running around in the forest . The fact is , it doesn't matter who you are or where your from , people from any and all backgrounds have had unforgetable experiences (sometimes traumatic) in the Australian forests , on our highways , on rural properties and suburbs on the outskirts of population centres .
Lot's of theories abound for these encounters from mass hallucination to psychological problems to real prehistoric survivors .

It depends on which Aboriginal people you talk to as to what you believe they are . Some Aboriginal people believe that they are ghosts and spirits and other Aboriginal people believe that they are primitive people referring to them as "the old people" , believing that they were already here when the Aboriginal people first arrived .

The Aboriginal people have so many mythical creatures it can get confusing as to what is what and who is who and which ones are real . It would be my belief that the Aboriginal people have these tails for a reason and that there's a grain of truth in each mythical creature .

It's also my belief that there are at LEAST 4 different types from my experience and from what I've heard . Small , medium , large and extra large .
I would lean towards prehuman or prehistoric survivor . The thing is that they are so intelligent and clever that to me they must a very primitive people but not us .
On the other hand there are very credible witnesses who have witnessed the impossible , disappearing yowie's , this isn't a joke and the reports are usually from researchers all round the planet including researchers here in Australia .
What they are and what we think they are may very well be two different things .

I've spent the last 6 years or so trying to get to the bottom of things and have discovered many cool piece's of information on the way . I collected my most believable files and put them on a website .

Been going over a lot of old posts, and there's many different opinions/accounts of what is actually out there and on what level.

Haha yeah I realise this is a yowie forum, so I'm not about to start trying to debunk yowies etc.
I knew what I was getting into

I do however like to see some healthy critical thinking on any subject, and there seems to be an element of that here already.

Yeah great answer from Rusty. I think they are more like option 1 and more human than ape.

Rusty's answer hits the nail on the head.

I think the prehistoric relic fits best with a potential for supernatural ability ( the jury is out on that one )
Like Rusty said - too many reports, credible witnesses and trending patterns....

Yeah, they're a communication device so others can see when they are happy/dominant/submissive, etc

Although I am yet to see one and base my opinion solely on listening to and reading countless reports I am of the opinion they are a natural animal with no 'supernatural' abilities other than a stealth and 'bush-awareness' that is far beyond us cityfied folk.

I am a firm believer in subjects others consider to be 'magical' or 'supernatural', but my beliefs come from science (albeit, alternative science). For example, personal experience has shown me over and over the mind is capable of incredible things, things others might see as coincidence or serendipity or even pure creative power... but that is not 'magic'... but rather facts of life most in our society do not accept (electric universe, etc).

A member posted or commented on a discussion something about invisibility some time ago. The fact that it is possible to 'feign' invisibility by 'distorting reality' in the observer's mind. Many would see this ability as supernatural, and indeed popular 'magicians' make a good living from propagating this belief. But it is not supernatural, rather it is simply understanding how the mind works and perceives the world around it (check out some of Derrin Brown's work).

There were many early versions of mankind before homo sapiens took their first steps, and some of those early versions have overlapped into the current planetary cycle and are still with us. Their instincts and DNA memory stretch back thousands if not millions of years before us, embuing them with an understanding and movement within theirs and our environment, beyond our current feeble understanding. This is why you don't find Bigfoot, Bigfoot finds you.
