Really dumb question

Unread post by ChrisV »

I've been floating around here for a while now and I consider myself well versed on the topic thru my own research and reading etc.

But...

What might sound really obvious but has anyone posted yet a really good image of a Yowie ?
I mean I've seen the overseas ones etc but nothing really intriguing from our shores.
I've seen the elusive Batlow image and sketches in the Yowie book but outside of that....nothing.

Have I missed something?

I don't think you've missed anything - no such clear, concise image or video exists as far as I am aware (based purely on my own armchair research). I wish it did.

I've never seen an Australian equivalent to the Patterson/Gimlin film, although that could be a result of us having a much smaller population than the United States (making it statistically less likely for someone to be in the right place and time with the right equipment to record anything similar).

I suppose one really convincing piece of footage would be all that's required for the presence of Yowies to be acknowledged/accepted by the mainstream of Australian society.

I can even accept the absence of dead ones because wilderness areas are full of scavengers, and we could surmise that Yowies - who seem to deliberately avoid humans as a survival strategy - die, as they live, in places which are well off the beaten path, so people simply never find them before their remains are eaten and decompose, etc. They might also bury their dead for all we know, if they're as intelligent as they seem to be.

Just me rambling on - I know much less than 99% of the people who post here, but I'm not aware of any particularly convincing footage or images of a Yowie that we all haven't seen before.

Hello all , I think there probably is footage / photos out there but they aren't released due to fear of ridicule . I have just set trail cameras for the first time in an area that I have had a food station in for about 8 mths and I know that IF I was to get footage of a tall hairy fella sauntering up for a feed or doing Michael Jacksons moonwalk , I would pm a few of the guys on here for an opinion but would hesitate to release or post it .

There's some valid point there Simon.
There seems to be plenty of sightings from around the place. The ol' skeptical footage reaction is probably valid for 99.9% of footage or pics that surface anyway....
I'd keep it under wraps also!
