Although he shies away from Bigfoot as a 411 culprit (and fair enough I feel) he does talk about Sasquatch abductions in this AWESOME talk at a museum site.

Watch the entire lecture....it has a few volume issues, but well worth putting up with.
Cheers

I may be in the minority on here but i wont be drinking Palides sour tasting cool-aid or Pauls for that matter. Granted the ancient cultures talk of abductions, wars and cannabilism but this is just over the top exploitation to sell books and more money for public speaking appearences etc.paulmcleod67 wrote:Youtube host for David Palides lecture on tribal Bigfoot....

Re: DAVID PALIDES "TRIBAL BIGFOOT" IMPORTANT RE 411
In the case of the 411 stuff, I agree - the guy has found a nice little earner and is going to milk it for all it's worth. That's not against the law, but I think he's willing to 'play to the gallery' to some degree.
Having read and heard so many reports about the potentially violent nature of these creatures, I'm not inclined to discount the idea that some of them have killed people. I'm not saying all of them would or have - just as murderers who kill for no discernible reason represent only a small fraction of the human population, they may also be rare in the Yowie population.
But the Yowie population (we can safely assume) is much, much smaller than the human one. Yowies generally inhabit areas where humans are scarce, even if these wilderness areas are increasingly closer to developed/urbanised towns. The idea that a Yowie might kill a lone human if they're so inclined isn't a shock to me. You're more likely to get lost, or die of exposure while out in the bush, or even be bitten by a snake...but even if their small numbers make such an event rare, it's still possible given all that we know (which isn't much, of course).
I'm not saying that everyone who goes missing is being killed by Yowies - I don't think anyone here is saying that. Just that the possibility exists; and for every audio report where the encounter is brief and unthreatening there are just as many where people feel they've been followed or watched. Some reports mention pursuit and even physical attack.
Again, just my two cents, and anything I say can be taken with a grain of salt since I've never seen one of these creatures...but some who have encountered them have described what could be categorized as 'near misses' with regard to their personal safety.

Great post Simon. It should also be noted that all those people that had close calls are still here to tell their story including Dean and Paul.

That's very true, YB. I think actual fatalities as a result of Yowie attacks would be rare, simply because there are so few of them and they seem to go to such incredible lengths to avoid being anywhere near us.
And yes, mostly people report feeling threatened or afraid, but actual attacks are not the norm (based on what little we know). It's still possible, though, and according to indigenous traditions these creatures can be violent. They mostly seem intent on simply scaring people off rather than harming them.

Yes Simon, it seems theyre more territorial than predatory from what we hear in reports. No one has a chance of escaping the yowie if they did want to get their hands on them so i doubt there would be many wirness reports if humans were considered a food source.
From what the legends say, there was some bad blood between the hairys and the humans in the past.
We can only wonder what their agenda is. May be some bad individuals or types are out there along with good ones.
There was a few scary incidents mentioned in a fairly recent thread on here where a yowie was attacking or standing over a woman. Im not sure of details but would be on here somewhere.
