out climbing yesterday 26/02/17

Unread post by wookie »

Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I'm a very long time observer and 3rd time poster.
thought I would share something from yesterday when I went Abseiling in a national park close to me.

So i drove the 45min off the highway into the mountains which is 4wd access only.

I reached the parking area at 0600, prepped my pack and just before I left, I had one of those gut churning moments of "not today". (I trust my gut instinct). however I thought stuff it I woke early and drove the 1.25 hours to the parking area.

I traverse all the way down to the creek by a not well worn track. that's where I saw my first two rock stacks.
that's when the "OOOOO" moment hit me, I now understood why I got that feeling.
I pressed on 100m out of the creek then back into it where I found scat everywhere (no idea what animal it is).

it started to get interesting from then on. Picture a canopy 10m above letting through 6AM light shadowed by a mountain.
I kept boulder hopping finding rock stacks the whole way though the creek, that's fine but I was the dead silence and "eyes" feeling for about 400m of the 800m creek section. I over came it by talking to "it" if it was there or not saying "I'm just passing through, I'm goin to the pools for climbing"

once out of the creek it goes to a track then back in the same creek but 300m down. after that I only had the "eyes" a hand full of times till I finished the 4-5 km walk to the pools then I felt like I was being watched but safe if you understand.
I rigged up the lines and spent 2 hrs abseiling and started the journey back.

all through the creek back I had the "eyes" feeling again, so I said "thanks for letting me come today, I enjoyed it" and then it started to ease off.

bit of history about me is I have seen and heard them a couple times.
I know the feelings I get can be for any reason however I've been to this spot a couple times and this is the first time for them out there.

FYI I have pics of the stacks..... manly because if something bad happened I would of dropped the GPS and camera so my parents would know what took me because of those pics. they would know my direction of travel cause I tape the track when I go in and remove them when I leave.

feel free to pick the sh*t out of this if ya like.

Regards Tim

Hi Tim, isnt it strange how 1 minute you feel good then next you know your being watched--its good you listen to your gut instinct. I captured 32 new rock stacks last week--there pretty cool.I always get told to talk to them but can never bring myself to do it---you did and it sounds like it worked for you. Do be careful going alone though, next time there might be a different group. Congrats Dee

Hi all , where I go I often hear noises and have the uneasy feeling , I will always talk to them ( out there no one can hear me anyways ) , I don't know if it is just a calming effect on me or whether they don't feel threatened but I definitely feel better .
I always ask them if it is ok for me to come in and when I leave I thank them , the way I figure it I would be pretty pissed if someone came wandering through my house without permission and I feel I am in their backyard , its just a courtesy thing
Cheers Greg

Thanks for your post.
Can you upload the images?

Re talking to them... the Origines 'talk to their ancestors' whenever they enter 'sacred ground', basically asking permission to enter as they go. Is it because they consider the Hairy Fellow (I think they should be called homo nocturnus) ancient relatives that protect the sacred areas? Or do they tell whitefellas they are talking to 'the ancestors' because whitefellas would think they were nuts if they said they were talking to Yowies?

I can not see any reason to pull apart your story. It sounds quite normal for those 'experiences' that seem to border something going on and a defintely maybe situation.

I guess something alerts our senses that we are being watched. I can not say I have had that impression in recent times...it would be interesting to think if you had stopped and observed your surroundings at that exact time whether you might of heard or seen something ? I don't know - I guess at the time your more interested in self preservation.

The rock stacks are always cool. Seen a few of those in my time.

hi all

the area is close to Ban Ban Springs in QLD.

Also in hindsight I remember hearing rock claps but forgot about them.
