A new researcher has popped up . I may be late to the party but thought I'd post his channel here . The Yowie Chronicles.

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiu_4R ... vjM32DW1iQ

Thankfully he seems credible . No BS , no extraordinary claims , no wishful thinking . I hope he does well .

I have concerns for this family. I have been speaking with his wife via messenger and they have a serious problem. Things have escalated since their new born baby came along(they have two teenagers) and they have had slaps on walls and small pebbles thrown at the house. I also wasn't really impressed when he had his kids in the car and they were freaking out asking him to drive because mum would lose it in a panic. I am sorry but you dont put your kids through s#@t like that. The husband is pretty much going down to his creek and getting growled at and as I said to her they know that you know they are there so now the whole paradigm shifts. I wish them good luck.

Wow !

I left a message on one of his video's . I wanted to warn him .
I noticed he mentioned his NEW house . This means that the property has never been permanently occupied . This would be the reason for the escalation in activity .
He's living on their dirt . I hope they can come to a resolution otherwise they'll have to move .
Did you warn them Siminious ?

I tried too Rusty but I think it fell on deaf ears. She described the house as a demountable so my guess it is a semi permanent dwelling. They have been there 4 years and I get the impression a bit of accidental habituation has occurred and now the baby has brought further attention.

I told them put up some lighting around the yard, keep the dog food inside, build another biggie patch away from the house and tell her husband to stop going down the creek looking to interact with them. Failing that, move.

Certainly makes for some good viewing though. Poor kid was scared out of his wits. Same with the mum. Probably gettin zapped while theyre lookin for the thing.

Its a big risk just to film some eyeshine or movement that could or could not be a yowie. Of course its them but not everyone will believe it.

I think this fella and other yowie hunters would see things different if/when they have a bad experience and not be so gung ho with their approach.

One thing id like to know is what do you guys think they are interested in babies for? Do they want to raise them , eat them or kill them to keep human population down?? Im sorry if that sounds cold but we have a few threads on it now and no one is saying why they take kids or giving any explanation for these abductions?

Humans gave up their right to the bush a long time ago when they started clearing land and building cities. They need to be aware of the risks if they intend to live out there. They may be houses or property to us but to the yowie were just trespassers or food source depending on your point of view. Some facts would be nice..

The only thing I know about babies and small children is the aboriginals say that the Junjudee used to sometimes come into their camps and steal babies. And the stories about kids being taken when they didn't keep up with the tribe when moving camps. I would say they are eaten though. I can't see a baby or toddler surviving in the bush without a protective layer and warmth regardless of what is caring for them. So unless they go and steal clothes for the child from people's yards or use the skins of animals they caught the baby ain't going to grow enough hair to protect itself and keep warm enough without clothes and wouldn't survive very long in my opinion.

I was thinking along the same lines with the tales of them snatching stragglers and stealing woman and babies from camp . In some legends, its things like that started the yowie vs human " war" in the first place due to lack of sustenance in bad / lean times.

Maybe these were stories to scare kids in more recent times but could have been daily life way back when or still is for all i know. Im more inclined to listen to the Aboriginal people than any one else.

Ive heard it so many times that theyre " interested" in or "take"kids but nothing is really clear.

The only reason i would think they would raise them is to intergrate them for breeding purposes and brings to mind the few stories ive heard of them stealing baby clothes. Neil Frost is one i can think of that looked into this and spoke to an elder when he found his neighbours babys clothes in the bush.

As far as eating purposes then id say an adult human would be a much bigger meal and easier to find...thats if they do eat people of course and im not saying they do.

Anyway this family are lucky to have some experienced people giving them advice. Lets hope they heed it. (thumb)

The thing is if these yowies did want to get to someone inside a dwelling then why are they knocking on the side of the buildings and not smashing their way in to devour everyone inside? Sure is a lot of baffling contradictions with these hairy guys.

I believe it's a protest . I've heard of it a number of times . There was a guy near Griffith , same thing , just moved into a new property with a shed .
He was living in the shed and had them banging the sides of the shed .

Its been reported a lot in the U.S as well. They seem to get frustrated about things they can't do much about, like when they go off about the trail cams and block tracks etc. This widely reported house slapping is one thing that surely we could say is a definite thing that happens. A yowie " fact" if i could be so bold..

I'd agree that we can present this as a Yowie fact - it's a feature of so many different reports that we can certainly describe it as a common behavioural characteristic. I also agree that it's a form of protest or complaint about their territory being encroached upon, given the context in which it's often described (new buildings in rural or remote areas).

Since we could also reasonably agree that they use wood knocking as a means of communication with one another over long distances (possibly to indicate their position relative to other Yowies for hunting purposes), knocking or slapping walls and other structures seems like a natural extension of the same behaviour. Instead of knocking on naturally occurring objects to make sounds, they're knocking on artificial ones. Maybe they assume humans will understand the precise meaning of this behaviour just as they do themselves, or maybe they simply wish to make themselves known - "We're here too, so don't get too big for your boots".

Maybe we're misunderstanding the exact meaning of the knocking/banging? That's also possible. It definitely seems like a territorial display if we assume these creatures are primates - most great ape social and territorial display involves slapping chests, shaking tree branches, loud vocalisations, confrontational 'acting out' behaviours, etc.

I'm still open minded about the idea of convergent evolution, but even if they're not primates they're certainly similar enough in so many other ways as to be likely to engage in comparable behaviour.

Judging from the video content it seems there are various levels of territorial disagreement happening as well as some interest.

It reminds me of the experiences of Neil Frost with Fatfoot.

Looking on from outside the situation though it would be wrong to make too many assumptions about the temperament of these particular ones.
It's worth playing it safe and remembering they play by a different set of rules that they haven't shared with us yet.

I agree 100% about the playing it safe aspect - it isn't worth the potential danger to take too many chances.

I tend to think house slapping is partially in protest but also possibly just these guys messing with us.

Bear and Coonbo often talk about younger ones counting coup on people. I imagine they get a good laugh out of human reactions, just like kids do when they give people a good scare. Like any primate they are curious and there is not much entertainment out in the bush.

Yeah we used go do the same thing with my nephews when they would camp together in their little tent. We would run past or throw pebbles on the tent and outside and sit silent and listen to their idiotic comments. " Must be a poisonous snake" " no i think its a bloke". Worked with adults as well. Fun times.

I bet the yowies do have some fun with the humans as well as the scare tactics they employ for what they consider intruders.

I notice this bloke from yowie chronicles is also going into the national park where he thinks the hairys are coming from so he cant be too worried if hes venturing onto their turf with his kid and dogs. Im sure the big fellas are watching his every move..

I know that forest like the back of my hand, having crisscrosses it countless times, off trail more than on.
Sometimes looking for Yowie sign, sometimes just taking the dogs for a walk.
We even found an old 'grow' site where someone had tried to produce a small crop about a hundred yards from the main gully that runs through the valley. It was pretty old with a chicken wire fence all crushed down and overgrown.
The water supply is too inconsistent in my mind to support them there. The gully holds small pools of water for a few months after good rain but I scouted them all for tracks, there were none. The soil is very sandy so tracks show up well from wallabies, etc coming to the pools to drink.
Down the eastern side of the ridge he started on there is a better water supply in the form of a rocky creek coming out of Tamborine mountain but last time I was there months back even the larger pools had dried up.
If they are there, they are much higher up into mount Tamborine itself. Although it is possible they are using the valley floor, following the gully down into the Albert river because of the drought.

I might walk right past them but my Yowie dog wouldn't. Mind you he has gone running off through that particular bit of bush many times chasing what we always assumed was wallabies.

I noticed that in one of the other videos they find quite a large footprint right outside the house.

Sounds like they need to heed the warnings a little more.

He may look like he's popped up as a new channel, but i believe this is the real deal. Dogs barking, eye shine (although always one eye?)... but he sounds kosher and i doubt someone would post up such real footage without fear of repurcussion. There has to be heaps more of similar accounts across AUS, it's just people arent sharing it as openly as these guys.
