Just recently my group and i went on a Yowie Research Night near Wedderburn Airport. John provided us with some information on past Junjadee sightings and one recent by a Group of horse riders going down a trail in that region. So we decided to research that area and set out at about 7pmish. Some of us camped on top of a ridge to use our Night Vision and Parabolic Dish to see if we could pick up anything. Within a few minutes after dark something was moving around making considerable noise, After sometime we concluded it sounded like hopping not bipedal walking. We trekked down a few trails that night and 3 of us decided to walk down the first trail we started in the evening to check it out one more time. We trekked in only a few hundred metres and suddenly something came crashing down the ridge above us to our right then another was on our left then we noticed another from behind us. This happened for about 10-15 minutes. I was using my night vison camera which has a mini lcd screen attached and capable of recording all night, While another in the group was using the Parabolic Dish which has a Sound Recorder attached to record all that it picks up all night. With three creatures walking around us and they did sound bipedal very different to the hopping sound previously that evening we could only concentrate the Parabolic on one moving creature. The time was getting close to midnight at this stage and one of our small group decided to do a rock clack and we Recorded all this on the Parabolic Dish.

Thanks for sharing Yowie Dan. Do you have audio of them coming down the slope and do you think its junjudee you encountered?

To answer Yowie Baits question yes we think they were junjadee because we came to realise very quickly that we were surrounded by three of them all at once. I have never encountered being in the bush with three wallabies all around, When i see wallabies while im out its usually only a single one hopping around. Plus this sound being made wasn't a hopping sound, We recorded a wallaby hopping earlier in the night and it sounded very different to what we experienced. Over the years in this area there has been numerous junjadee sightings by people in cars and also hikers and horse riders.

We also used a flashing light to attract them as it has worked in the past for us. This is the video of the flashing light.

Very Very interesting Dan, great results for all your hard work. There is so much land from where you guys were right down past Wollongong, and so much of this is water catchment and is gated, not many people go in there. Back of Mt Kembla is a very interesting spot, only been up there during the day, think night time would be great fun.

Sorry , works fine. Went straight in my video libary on phone. Im sure that light would get a curious hominids attention!

I have also heard that the good old goon bag does a great job of attracting them to. So might have to have a few flagons and see how they go. My Blue Mountains Yowie Research Group goes out as much as we can doing mostly overnight or night walks along trails. Everyone in the group just about has a Parabolic Dish or some sort of night vision to a thermal camera. We research area's that have the best chance of an encounter so we can get good results either on Sound Recordings or the Elusive video or picture. This is a oldie but a goodie, While i was at Glenbrook i filmed a huge 10 footer behind me and never knew it was there while i was trying to show how hard it was to try to break a tree break that was there to reinact it and got it about 18 mtrs from me up the ridge. The rock ledge i measured it to be 11/3/4 feet high and with other tests the conclusion was minimum 10 foot tall. One of the pictures will be of the rock ledge and someone is standing on it so you can see how high it is campared to how big they look. The other pictures are of the creature from where i was standing and a close up of it all taken from still off the original video. I WISH I COULD FILM ANOTHER.

You really need to go to the site to appreciate the importance of Dan's video. I went there and stood in the same place as the subject and the rock face towered above my head. There was something captured at least 10 foot high traveling around the rock face. The distance between the tree break and position of the camera to the sighting spot would only have been 20 mtrs. Outstanding work Dan.

Thanks Dan. I can see it clear in the stills . Its quite obvious. Video is working fine on phone but a bit quick. You did well to pick that up. Thats kind of funny you were trying to break the stick and its behind you. Good stuff!

The story is that i just came out of a achilles tendon operation. I was looking at all my fellow researchers posting their findings and got jealous. So i decided to do a easy trail cause i was only 3 months out from my operation and was eager to do some research. I had been to this spot before and was just looking around to set up a sound recorder and trail camera for a week. I came across this tree break and wanted to see how hard it would be to break it and decided to film it and caught it in the background. I watch whole video i took of the day 5 times before i noticed it in the background while i was talking to a fellow researcher online.

Just goes to show that its worth having a good look. Its funny how things can catch your eye even when youve gone right over it.The comparison pic shows it up well.

A good example how easy it is to not see them when your concentrating on something else!

I went down to the creekbed and walked down as far as i could before i wasn't able to go any further due to my sore ankle. I walked back to where i came from which took about 15 minutes as i was looking around for things such as footprints and small tree breaks etc. On my way back i saw the tree break and decided to show how hard it was to break it so as i turned my camera around to place it on a rock to film i caught it in the background. Never saw, Heard, Smelt anything. I did have a cold at the time, Between me coughing and concentrating on the tree break the opportunity to see it was lost. I do have some Sound Recordings of the area as i did alot of research at this spot for sometime.

Just been viewing some of those YouTube videos with zoo animals interacting with kids behind glass walls - the gorillas in particular seem to like messing about with their minds.

Just been viewing some of those YouTube videos with zoo animals interacting with kids behind glass walls - the gorillas in particular seem to like messing about with their minds.

Theres some interesting orangutan intereactions as well on youtube. They have a real good look at some people.

These reverse mirror spy glasses may come in handy in the field...if you dont walk into a tree or get eye damage from prolonged use.

Well your time certainly paid off. Hmm a video and audio? Sounds like some kind of evidence of something.....
