First photo of a yowie (?)

I have been shown a picture that purports to be yowie waist deep in a billabong. Looks quite remarkable. I don't have a copy yet but i should next week. The image was emailed to someone i know from a bloke working near aboriginal communities.. outside of the eastern states. It's not fantastic quality - seems a phone pic - and it's side on. However, the face looks flattish, bicep semi-hairless, ruffly grey-black hair. The most remarkable thing is the big hands.. or the one hand that can be seen. The guy apparently trekked for 2 days through the bush with aboriginal friends who insisted he got naked and they dragged a bush or branch over him to rid him of human scent. I was at first told there was no photo but on the tea break my colleague emailed the guy and he emailed a photo, so it seems it's a regular visitor to that billabong and they caught the yowie on camera or phone camera another time. I will NOT be revealing the location because of cultural sensitivities - it's an aboriginal area - and i'm sure we don't want hoards of 'hunters' or commercial or media people going there. I'm going to try and get some more information (perhaps there's more photos) and possibly visit the location if i'm allowed. I will probably pay a visit to a primatologist first to see if they think it's genuine or a known species. Then i will submit it to an anthropologist and Dean & co for an initial private view. I suspect that the actual witness, through my own enthusiasm via the intermediary may well realize the importance of the image and release or sell it himself but if he's close to the aboriginals in the area he should have second thoughts. Quite exciting but i think the image needs a primatologist to look it over first.
Sincerely, Boab Bob.

Other details i shoudl have mentioned:
Upright in the water. Very muscular - the stomach/chest can be seen too.. shoulders and front well-built and the shoulders were really bulbous and muscular - i've heard the reports but could never quite picture how the shoulders would look. Neck not discernable either. Black skin. Hair looks dry and a big mess. Not that human-like.. similar to baboon but there was no muzzl- baboons have very prominent muzzle.
Anyway, there you go..

Interesting stuff.
As you rightly say, the main thing is that the location be kept secret. I'm looking forward to seeing any new evidence, as ever. Great work!

Oh what a bunch of f####ckers - i've been subject to workplace windup. Please forgive me people! The actual story seems to be true though. I'll have another chat next week. I did question it coz it didn't look like Australia.

I thought the floating dog toy and cattle fence would have given the game away

I did question that but as a photographer i've seen plenty of funny lines and effects on both film and digital for various reasons. It may well be that the story is 'true' but the guy in the outback sent the photo to my colleague as reference material.. but neither realize the pic is fake. I thought i'd seen it somewhere before and i did have a google search before i posted here.

So this confirms Rex is a fraud?

After being stitched with the photo, I think it's fair to assume theres a better than average chance the story is bullsh*t too.

My personal opinion of Rex Gilroy is that he's the Aussie Erich von Däniken - which means that he's sort of a cross between P.T. Barnum and Alby Mangels, but with slightly less credibility than those three blokes combined.

That is the acting of the century if it is a wind up. I was watching the other guys too but i don't think they've arranged it. They brought down a UFO buff (i'm not really one so much) from the offices a few months ago after i told them about the yowie and now have introduced me to this guy they thought was also funny but although we were grinning too.. it was infectious laughter rather than him in on it. I think the guy in remote area just sent the pic because he saw something similar. I'll find out next week when i go back to the workshop like a miffed 12 footer that will rip off heads that don't give answers :-D

There's so many photos that are fake out there it's nearly impossible for the average nontechnical person to discern.Honest mistake!

For those of us lucky enough to have had a sighting of one it is pretty easy to discern what is fake and what is not. IMO
Having said that I do believe there are different varieties of them around the world, so what I have seen may not necessarily be the same as other peoples sightings?
I don't think I can recall one supposed real photo or video that comes close to what I have seen, not even Patty.
The closest thing the comes to the image I saw are some drawings.
