Something in the bushes or paradolia?

I'm posting this here because I feel it's relevant to anybody wishing to understand just how difficult
it is to spot large living things in moderate to dense brush.
Can you spot the 12 soldiers in this image?
12 members of the British Army’s most elite units are disguised among the undergrowth in a forest in Brunei.
The incredible image was taken as part of Close Target Reconnaissance training.

Without the red circles, I never would've spotted a single one of them.

I only got the one smack in the middle, but only because I'd been told there were hidden figures!

Found two, but then only because their helmets had a distinctive outline.
The Yowie wears the prefect ghillie suit. If they stay perfectly still you would walk right past them without a clue, especially if you were not even looking for them.
I remember way back in cadets we were given a patch of bush to hide in and another team had to find us.
Part of the bush was open paddock with knee-high grass so instead of burrowing under a lantana bush like everybody else I simply lay down in the middle of the paddock and stayed perfectly still.
I was the second last to be found. Why? Simply because no one thought you could hide in the open so were not looking.
My wolfhound has a similar 'ghillie suit' outfit and if he stood still in the bush you would never spot him. This is why looking for Homo nocturnus is pointless. They will always outsmart you in their house. Only a chance encounter or getting them curious or defensive enough to show themselves will result in seeing one, IMHO

I agree Wolf. That seems to be the case. Probably best chance is to piss them off or ignore their warnings if you really want an experience.

This is all about invisibility and the difference between the yowie and most people. The yowie can make itself physically invisible without camouflage. Soldiers need camouflage to make themselves physically invisible, as the two photos perfectly illustrate.
