New Tassie Tiger video

New footage has emerged today of a purported Tassie Tiger in, of all places, Tasmania. :D

Bit blurry, but worth a look on the ABC News site. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-09-06/t ... io/8877598

Seems all the news services are keen to show this footage. Wonder if it would be the same reaction when someone finally gets some decent Yowie footage.
Still reckon it will be from a HD dashcam along our country roads. I'm trying!

I agree that there's a lack of detail and the video is inconclusive...but the people trying to say it's a quoll really need an eye test or something. Whatever it is, it's too big to be a quoll, in my opinion.

A follow up ABC news story is titled "Why do some of us believe in Tasmania tiger, Big Foot sightings and others do not?"

The article poses enlightening questions about our belief system, some of which certainly apply to some Yowie sightings.

The video (that we get to see) is awfully blurry. Difficult to make much of it.
However the colour seems about right (spotted quolls are usually darker) and the size, too.

I wouldn't mind betting that Mr Mooney has suggested a Spotted Tail Quoll in an effort to "hose down" excitement.
This would be to minimize the number of people going out trying to get a better picture.

All JMHO.

That's a good point, Mad Academic; I was a bit surprised to hear quolls mentioned, but that probably explains it.

There's so little detail, it's still not possible to rule out an injured dog or the like. It could be anything....except a gigantic quoll. ;)

There is plenty of eye witnesses that believe their still around so footage could be legit

Remember that "could be" doesn't translate to "definitely is".

Here's a thought provoking interview with some Adelaide Hills video shown on Channel 9 today: http://www.9news.com.au/national/2017/0 ... nian-tiger

Great interview.

The footage might be blurry but you can make out the distinctive body features he is describing quite easily.

On the trapping issue, I wonder if they have attempted to procure a licence to trap one alive for scientific verification?
It is not necessary to kill them but taking one alive for temporary study seems feasible.

You can bet that if their existence is proven, someone will ask for money to study numbers and the genetic purity of the modern line compared to samples currently held.
