Todd Standing's "Discovering Bigfoot"

Has anyone else seen this yet? I watched it last night and while certainly no oscar-winning film, I still found it quite compelling. It includes collaborations will Dr Jeff Meldrum (who has a sighting of his own) and Dr John Bindernagel, as well as some new footage, including more footage of the famous blinking 'puppet heads' which makes them seem more real. The most amazing part for me was at the end of the film he reveals footage of what he claims is a sasquatch face. It's crystal clear and there is no doubt in my mind it's footage of a real, living thing. So it has to be either a man in makeup or a sasquatch. I'm actually surprises that no-one in the bigfoot community seems to be interested in what should be ground-breaking evidence!

If you keep an open mind while watching, you realise that whether or not you believe the evidence, you are witnessing the story of a man utterly obsessed with his quest. At the end of the day I think that he genuinely believes in what he is doing and that adds credibility to me. Perhaps he faked part of his footage for the sake of publicity, but if so should be discredit all of his evidence?

I've attached a screenshot I took of the face, and I want to hear your thoughts. Especially those of you who have actually seen one of these creatures. Does it look real to you? What strikes me is the resemblance to an aboriginal man. Believe me if you can get your hands on the footage it looks extremely real...

Yes its hard to take it seriously because there has been so much conjecture about his stuff already that you don't know what your looking at - truth or fiction?

I was leaning towards truth but it got so cloudy and I guess I read too many opinions and so called 'evidence' pertaining to doubters views that i just ended up with a headache trying to sort thru the bs!
If he telling the truth then he has some incredible and ground breaking evidence that would essentially rewrite the history books!
If its rubbush then he could team up with Yurk the Yowie team and entertain the masses with crude and rubbish entertainment?

Todd is genuine but his footage is fake .

Ask yourself this , out of all the people on the planet trying to film these guys , how the hell can Todd be the only person on the planet to have TWO (supposedly now 3) pieces of high definition footage of TWO (now3) completely different suppossed species ?

The subjects don't look anything like what I've seen and look more like people with makeup and fake hair , red flag .

All the subjects barely move , red flag . I've never seen any of the creatures casually sit around like a bird in a tree waiting to be filmed , the ones I've seen do the bolt . The ones I befriended sat behind the bushes and never once came out .

There's no video of the creatures moving away , red flag . If this footage was as important as he makes out why has he left out the part where the creatures move away ?

Where's the video leading up to the capture ? Red flag . All we get to see is the creatures sitting around like dole bludgers haha .

Where's the audio ? Red flag .

Where's the footprints from the creatures themselves ? Red flag .

Where's the evidence page ? Behind a paywall . Red flag .

Where's the collection of calls , woodknocks , vocalisations , footprints and hair samples he's collected over the years ? There is none ! Red flag .

Todd is a conman who produces flashy videos to "wow" the audience into believing the show . If he really was sincere about informing the world about the sasquatch then we'd see the whole freakin lot and it wouldn't cost a cent but nope , only a peek and you must pay . He shows us only what he wants us to see .

Having said all that , I have no ill will toward Todd . I'm not his mummy and he can do what ever he wants to . I believe Todd has seen and heard them and genuinely wants the right outcome for the creatures themselves but has fallen into the nooby researcher trap like so many others .

The nooby trap is this . Someone tells you that there's monsters in the forest and no one can film them . You believe it . Light goes on in head . Maybe I can film them . Nooby spends months or years trying to film the monsters but realises that it is more difficult than he or she ever imagined . Nooby get's idea . What if I can fake one ?

Todd wants to be THE ONE and will do anything he can to make that happen while syphoning your wallet at the same time .

Well said Rusty! (thumb up) Standing never follows up on his footage or breaks down his videos. If hes proved an outright hoaxer it will screw up his whole sasquatch habitat preservation plans up big time.

I generally avoided Standing's stuff thinking him to be in the mold of Dyer et al

Then I got interested in Les Shroud's work , whom I do respect, and after watching his "Survivorman: bigfoot" episodes many times over?

I still don't watch Standings stuff, why? Simply because it's about the money for him and not the epiphany the knowledge should generate for humanity.

What that epiphany would mean to the average individual is subjective, but I myself would like to see more care taken of each other
whilst in an environment, which truth be said , is theirs and no longer ours.

I'm sure many would disagree with that statement but having turned 50 this year I finally understand what is truly wrong with our society.
We are not only becoming isolated from nature, as time goes by we are becoming isolated from each other.

That would be an individuals doom in tribal days gone by, because a human being is a physically weak thing compared to the rest of
the biosphere and sure to become either prey or fertilizer, if left out from his concrete cave too long.

We are evolving away from the cradle of the natural environment and becoming aliens on our own planet.

Standing is a man in love with the deep green, high places, nothing wrong with that, however love of the outdoors alone will never pay the bills
or meet the needs of a person living in the throw away technological, fast food, short attention span western world.

And in America the only dream left for the common people is to be a star....whatever that means...usually achieved to their
detriment and ultimate demise, Micheal Jackson, Prince and an ocean of other lonely egotistical narcissistic, socially isolated loners.

I have my epiphany as do many others here. The question is what do you do with the knowledge now?

Cheers

I read a website report by Sasquatch Detective.
It is called.... Analysis in Todd Standings blinking bigfoot.
This a really clear face shot of a bigfoots face and it blinks once, I am sure you have all seen it.

Basically, the way I read the fairly detailed analysis is what Todd claims is part of a video is actually a single photo taken with a tripod on location which has later been camera shopped.
This Sasquatch detective says this particular still shot is a hoax.

Having only this frame to examine makes this very subjective however I could be persuaded that a forehead
prognostic was used based on the weirdly consistent facial lines and pretty clear indications of digital airbrushing on the left side of the face. (to hide mold marks?). (oops)

Also the eyebrows suggest to my mind that they were applied after the forehead latex appliance.
looking batch of pixels. (oops)

There is a stick blocking shot on the nose bridge that was digitally removed. I say that because edge detect generally wont pick out striations in out of focus images rather it will blend back a fluffy (oops)

Do Sasquatch have prominent noses? I was under the impression they tend to be broad and flat.
My encounter beastie in West Wyalong had an almost ape like sinus area. (see lousy Wyalong head shot)

As the eyes seem to have tear ducts it's a safe bet they are real. Also the skin texture of the upper and
lower head are vastly different... (oops)

Latex and CGI techniques are still not good enough to fool the human eye in my humble opinion.

Maybe only the creatures right upper forehead ages badly?

But I'm just making suggestions and maybe it's for real.

So I have just finished watching the documentry, I rented it through Vimeo.

Firstly, I would like to say that I have not yet had a visual encounter so I'm only going by reports and reading I have done. The footage he has seems to be lacking the facial features that are clearly reported time and time again i.e. strong brow ridge, sloping forehead and strong jaw etc. In my opinion the faces seem far to human in comparison to report descriptions.

The repeats of the "muppet head" and the "blinking head" were in my opinion pointless to include. Most people believe they are fake and does nothing to add to his credibility, however, there is possibly some infrared footage of a possible Sasquatch back that he does show footage of him standing in the locale.

The running Sasquatch that he has footage of seems ridiculously similar to the b roll of Todd himself running through the bush, the way he jumps/skips over fallen timber is far to close to the movement of the Sasquatch.

I believe that he does have some footage of encounters but not the HD images of Sasquatch he claims.

The collaboration with Dr's Bindernagel and Meldrum is good but they are both weary of saying that he has the real deal (without a type specimen it won't be proved). The way he interviews them is more suggestive rather than asking for honest opinion.

I must say I agree with the reasons why "recognition and protection of the species" but firmly believe that Todd himself is after the glory and the money. All in all its a reasonable documentary but it's not worth the cost to rent and I certainly wouldn't buy it, just wait until someone puts it up on YouTube.

I put together a little abridged background information on Standings activities FYI

Background:
Todd Standing has been pursuing the mythical creature for over a decade. He claimed to have photographic evidence of Bigfoot in 2011, and in 2014 he claimed to have DNA evidence of its existence. He also convinced Les Stroud, star of the television show “Survivorman,” to follow him on a hunt for the creature.

Todd Standing has dismissed criticism from others in the sasquatch-hunting community who have accused him of launching frivolous lawsuits to promote his documentary.

"I'm tired of all the paranormal talk, I'm tired of all the naysayers — the species is real," said Todd Standing, head of the Sylvanic Group.

Standing said he is aware his court action may make him seem a little off balance, and that he may next be asked to "prove unicorns and Santa Claus should be a protected species too." But he doesn't mind if his claim is met with skepticism.

“Of course I have my haters,” he said. “Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Einstein, they had tremendous haters.”
“I’ve seen sasquatch so many times,” he told CTV Vancouver.
“I mean, over 50 times.
" I’ve filmed them eight different times.”
'This is the real deal, the evidence is here,' says Todd Standing

Standing took TV's Survivorman Les Stroud into the area for a three-day walkabout, where the duo surveyed whole trees torn from their roots and heard strange whooping noises.

Stroud said in the eventual televised production of their trip that he couldn't articulate what he heard — at least "not within normal explanations."

Not only does Standing take credit for the success of the Survivorman Bigfoot series, he also had this to say about Les Stroud: Standing said his trek with Stroud, although it didn't produce an actual Bigfoot sighting, has left him with "so much credibility it's ridiculous."

"The truth he (Stroud) was being skeptical and he knows damn well those were Sasquatch, like I do," Standing said.

Wildlife Biologist John Bindernagel PhD spends 10 days in the field with Todd in this Documentary. On his last day's interview he had this to say. "After spending time in the field with Todd Standing... I am firmly convinced he has in fact filmed portraits of the Sasquatch face."

Dr Jeff Meldrum refused to classify the animal as "Bigfoot" because it "connotes a position of faith or the acceptance of something in the absence of evidence."

"And my position is one where I am convinced and I am motivated to pursue this question based on the evidence that I have examined."

None of his claims have been scientifically verified.

DISCOVERING BIGFOOT

The documentary had a budget reported by IMDB as being estimated at $1,000,000

IMDB: Synopssis

"Reality Entertainment and The Sylvanic Cooperation presents "Discovering Bigfoot." Discovering Bigfoot is the first feature film documentary with real live interaction between a Bigfoot creature, wilderness experts, PhD's and other world renowned experts and researchers of the Bigfoot enigma. Journey into the heart of Sasquatch Country with Todd Standing who appeared with Survivorman's Les Stroud in "Survivorman Bigfoot". Experience three incredible days in the field with Bigfoot researchers, Todd Standing and renowned expert Professor Dr. Jeff Meldrum as they encounter a real live Sasquatch. What we think we know of human origins and evolution is about to change forever as we discover the truth about a species that has remained elusive by outwitting and evading modern man for decades despite his best efforts. New evidence is revealed through scientific, systematic, and logical processes proving the existence of the Sasquatch species, modern day descendant of Gigantopithicus, a.k.a. Bigfoot. This unprecedented feature film includes - Never before seen, extraordinary Sasquatch footage that will shock the world. A terrifying altercation between Todd Standing and 3 Sasquatch creatures in the wild. Five never before seen video encounters with the Sasquatch species and overview of the life and death struggle that was necessary to acquire them. YOU WILL FEEL THE FEAR".

“This is huge,” Standing said. “I’m going to prove Sasquatch is real. Period.”
“This is a very serious undertaking,” he told CTV Vancouver. “This is no joke.”

Todd Standing's lawsuit

Standing’s Notice of Civil Action to the B.C. court accuses the province of dereliction in its duty to manage and protect the wildlife within its borders, and asks the court to order a government representative – likely a wildlife biologist – to accompany him on a tracking expedition so he can prove once and for all that the elusive creatures inhabit the Kootenays.

George Heyman, B.C.’s minister of the environment, laughed off a question about sasquatch this week. Nevertheless, a taxpayer-funded lawyer will be required to address the civil claim in court, where it’s expected they will ask for it to be thrown out.

Standing said he’s also planning similar civil cases in Alberta and the U.S. state of Washington.

“They won’t look at the evidence. That’s why I must go into court to prove it,” he said.
“I have a lawyer who I’ve just, I’m in negotiations with, who thinks we can win this,”
“I have so much evidence, this is way beyond a reasonable doubt,” said Standing
“This seriously requires more investigation. It’s irresponsible that nobody’s taking this seriously,” Standing said.

A personal thought on Todd Standing

Standings actions remind me of another trajic figure in the wildlife conservation area
Timothy Treadwell

Timothy Treadwell studied grizzly bears during summer seasons for 13 years, before being killed by one of them.
Treadwell authored a book entitled " Among Grizzlies: Living with Wild Bears in Alaska" The book details his mission to protect bears, which began in the late 1980s after surviving a near fatal heroin overdose.
By 2001, Treadwell became sufficiently notable to receive extensive media attention both on television and in environmental circles, and he made frequent public appearances as an environmental activist. He traveled throughout the United States to educate school children about bears and appeared on the Discovery Channel, the Late Show with David Letterman, and Dateline NBC to discuss his experiences.

The National Park Service expressed their worries about his behavior. According to the file kept on Treadwell by the Park Service, rangers reported he had at least six violations from 1994 to 2003. Included among these violations are: guiding tourists without a license, camping in the same area longer than the Parks Service's seven-day limit, improper food storage, wildlife harassment, and conflicts with visitors and their guides. Treadwell also frustrated authorities by refusing to install an electric fence around his camp and refusing to carry bear spray to use as a deterrent. In fact, Treadwell had carried pepper spray with him and had resorted to using it at least one time, but wrote that he had felt terrible grief over the pain he perceived it had caused the bear and refused to use it on subsequent occasions.

October 6 .2003
Treadwell and his girlfriend, physician assistant Amie Huguenard mangled's remains were discovered upon investigation. Treadwell's disfigured head, partial spine, and right forearm and hand, with his wrist watch still on, were recovered a short distance from the camp. Huguenard's partial remains were found next to the torn and collapsed tents, partially buried in a mound of twigs and dirt. A large male grizzly protecting the campsite was killed by park rangers during their attempt to retrieve the bodies. A second adolescent bear was also killed a short time later, when it charged the park rangers.

Oct 10 2003: "The final, terrifying moments of a wildlife author and his girlfriend as they were mauled to death by a brown bear were captured on tape, police said yesterday. A video camera was turned on just before Timothy Treadwell and Amie Huguenard were attacked at their campsite". UK Telegraph report

Pointless and negligent deaths

The area's that Treadwell spent extended periods in and where he was ultimately killed were already listed by law as protected bear zones, prior to Treadwell's personal crusade.

Grizzly Man (2005): A Film by Warner Herzog is an account of Treadwell's bizzare life and the trajic yet predictable death's of himself and his girlfriend Amie Huguenard.

BACK TO TODD STANDINGS BIG DAY IN BIGFOOT IN COURT

Some information on government departments that do take Sasquatch seriously, Todd Standing would be fully aware of these instances and i'ts my thought that he will bring them up in his dog and pony court show.

1974
In 1974, the US Army Corps of Engineers included Sasquatch as a species in the state of Washington. The Army Corps of Engineers devoted a complete page to Bigfoot in their 1974 Washington Environmental Atlas.
In the Atlas it describes Bigfoot as standing 8 to 12 feet tall, weighing up to 1000 pounds and having feet measuring up to 24 inches long.

FBI list Bigfoot on a Most Wanted fugitive poster
Round Rock Police Chief Allen Banks has received a special message from the Federal Bureau of Investigation: the Hairy Man seen galavanting around the Round Rock trails is a “most wanted fugitive.”
According to the recently released FBI poster, Bigfoot is a “menace to wildlife” and is accused of “destruction of government property” and “terrorism of campers.”The creature is allegedly “armed and dangerous,” according to the FBI message received by police.
The Bureau is offering a reward of up to $500,000 for information leading directly to the arrest of the giant, hair-covered being, according to the Parks and Rec Department.

1977
U.S Fish and Wildlife Service memo
Are We Ready for "Bigfoot" or the Loch Ness Monster?
U.S Fish and Wildlife Service
Conserving the Nature of America
Report
Are We Ready for "Bigfoot" or the Loch Ness Monster?
December 21, 1977
What if they really did find the Loch Ness monster or the legendary Bigfoot of the Pacific Northwest?
Most scientists doubt that these creatures exist, but thoughts of the discovery of a new species that might be the closest living relative to man, or the possibility of finding a leftover dinosaur, excite the imagination of scientist and nonscientist alike. It also poses another question: Would such a creature be subjected to the same kind of exploitation as the giant movie ape, King Kong?

Scientists generally believe there are still many species of birds and mammals that have not been discovered because they live in remote areas and their populations are limited. After all, the gorilla and giant panda were only legends until the late 19th century when their actual existence was first confirmed by scientists. The komodo dragon, a 10-footlong lizard, wasn't known to science until 1912. The coelacanth, a deep-water prehistoric fish, was known only from 65 million-year-old fossils until 1938 when a specimen was caught alive off the Madagascar coast.

Just last year a Navy torpedo recovery vessel dropped a sea anchor into 500 feet of water off Hawaii. But instead of a torpedo, it hauled up a 15-foot representative of a new species of shark. The dead shark, named megamouth after its bathtub-shaped lower jaw, had an enormous, short-snouted head and 484 vestigial teeth.

To be sure, no remains of today's legendary "monsters" have ever been found. There are no living specimens in zoos or dead ones in museums. Most certainly, many "sightings" of these creatures are exaggerated or misinterpreted reports, and some are downright hoaxes.

But finding a Loch Ness monster or Bigfoot is still a possibility, and the discovery would be one of the most important in modern history. As items of scientific and public interest they would surely command more attention than the moon rocks. Millions of curiosity seekers-and thousands of zoologists and anthropologists throughout the world would be eager to "get at" the creatures to examine, protect, capture, or just look at them.

What would the United States Government do?

"I doubt we'll ever have to do anything, because I don't believe there are any of the things around to be discovered in the first place," said Keith Schreiner, Associate Director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The Service is the Government agency with responsibility for protecting endangered and threatened species.

"At least, we have the laws and regulations on the books to deal with newly discovered species.”

Schreiner acknowledged, however, that a good deal of international cooperation would be needed if extremely rare species were found abroad. And finding one on U.S. soil would pose serious problems too, Service officials agree.

Undisputed proof of a Bigfoot might cause an immediate, short-term problem no law could handle. Word of its discovery would he flashed around the world within hours. hysteria, fear, or panic might accompany the news in the area where the creature was located. The throngs of curiosity seekers, would-be captors, and others wishing to find Bigfoot would not only create a serious threat to the animal itself, but to public safety as well. Some officials doubt whether any State or Federal action short of calling out the National Guard could keep order in the area within the first few hours or days of the creature's discovery. This could be essential until a team of scientists could do the necessary things to ensure the creature's survival.

The key law in preservation of a species is the Endangered Species Act, which pledges the United States to conserve species of plants and animals facing extinction. This broad, complex law protects endangered species from killing, harassment, and other forms of exploitation. The Act prohibits the import and export of, and interstate commerce in, endangered species. American citizens cannot engage in commercial traffic in endangered species between nations, even when the United States is not involved. Scientists wishing to study endangered species are required to have a permit issued by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

But before a creature can receive protection under the Endangered Species Act, a number of actions normally must occur which involve recommendations from the public, scientists, and State and foreign governments where the species exists.

The first of these would be the species' formal description and naming in a recognized scientific publication. In addition, if it were a U.S. species, the Governor of the, State where it was found would be contacted, as would the officials of foreign governments if it were found outside the United States. Only after such information was collected could the Service make a formal determination as to whether the species should be afforded endangered or threatened status.

For the Loch Ness monster, the first step has already been taken. Last year, a highly respected British journal published a description and proposed the name Nessiteras rhombopteryx, meaning "awesome monster of Loch Ness with a diamond-shaped fin.”

"Nessie," as the creature is affectionately known by believers in its existence, has been periodically sighted in Loch Ness, Scotland, over the last 14 centuries. Loch Ness is a 2S-mile-long, cold, deep lake whose peat-stained, murky waters make positive identification of almost anything from photographs next to impossible. But the most recent reports, based on sophisticated underwater cameras and electronic gear, identify a 30foot-long creature with a massive, humped body bearing a small head and long slender neck with an immense set of flippers. Although no presently known aquatic organism answers this description, it would fit any of various species of prehistoric, carnivorous reptiles called plesiosaurs which lived 100 million years ago.

In recent discussion in the British House of Commons, members of Parliament were assured that if "Nessie" were found it could theoretically receive immediate protection since it had already been described and named, If "Nessie" were taken out of Britain illegally, it would be a violation of the U.S. Lacey Act to bring it into the United States..

Bigfoot, also known as Sasquatch, is purported to be an 8-foot, 900- pound humanoid that roams the forest and wilderness areas of the Pacific Northwest. One "eyewitness" described an obviously female Sasquatch as a "tall, long-legged, gorilla-like animal covered with dark hair and endowed with a pendulous pair of breasts." It, too, has been described in publications and given a scientific name. In fact, so many people were stalking Bigfoot with high-powered rifles and cameras that Skaminia County, Washington, is prepared to impose a fine of $10,000 and a 5-year jail term on anyone who kills a Bigfoot. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers even lists Bigfoot as one of the native species in its Environmental Atlas for Washington. This year the Florida and Oregon legislatures also considered bills protecting "Bigfoot" type creatures. A Bureau of Indian Affairs policeman has 18-inch plaster cast footprints of the "McLaughlin monster," a Bigfoot-type creature he saw last month in South Dakota.

Under U.S. Law, the Secretary of the Interior is empowered to list as threatened or endangered a species for 120 days on an emergency basis.
For endangered species in the United States, the Secretary can also designate habitat that is critical to their survival. No Federal agency could then authorize, fund, or carry out any activities which would adversely modify that habitat.

So long-term Federal protection of Nessie or Bigfoot would basically be a matter of following the same regulatory mechanisms already used in protecting whooping cranes and tigers.

"Under normal situations," Schreiner said, "we must know a great deal about a species before we list it. How big is the population? Does it occur anywhere else? Is the population in danger of decline? Is its habitat secure? Is the species being exploited? What is its reproductive rate? Obviously, if a Bigfoot really were found we could use emergency provisions of the Act to protect it immediately. But for the record, I seriously doubt whether such a creature really does exist.”

Along with the hundreds of requests received last year to protect more well-known plants and animals, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was queried about protection for Bigfoot and the "Lake Champlain sea serpent.”

No requests have so far been received for the protection of the reputed foul-smelling Noxie monster, a 7-foot denizen of Oklahoma, or the skunk ape of the Everglades, or the infamous Mothman in West Virginia. But in time, they, too, might come. And when they do, they'll be treated accordingly.

2012
FISH AND WILDLIFE ADDS SASQUATCH TO ENDANGERED SPECIES
November 10, 2012 Washington, D.C.

United States Fish and Wildlife Services spokesperson Naya Faroosh said late Friday afternoon at a Washington press conference that the government organization will include the elusive Sasquatch, more popularly known as Bigfoot, on its list of endangered species.
Sasquatch habitat has been severely diminished over recent decades, Ms. Faroosh said. The official FWS stance is that this is due to Anthropogenic Global Warming as well as urban sprawl and human encroachment in inland Oregon and Washington State where the Sasquatch population is believed to be most prevalent in the U.S. FWS scientists estimate there may be fewer than three dozen Sasquatches remaining in both states combined. The total number of these legendary bi-urnal bipeds in the Canadian province of British Columbia may be double that, although much reduced from historic highs in the thousands only two centuries ago, according to the FWS.
“The very paucity of Sasquatch sightings in our own lifetimes is evidence of human carelessness and disregard,” Ms. Faroosh said. “We share this earth with other species who have every right to exist here, and our actions should reflect our appreciation of that fact.” The spokesperson went on to say that a majority of the land best suited for Sasquatch habitat is currently under private ownership, but that with the new ruling, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is empowered to take control of those lands and place them under a federal management program designed to restore endangered populations to previous levels. “The fewer sightings there are, the stronger the proof of our negligence as a society,” Ms. Faroosh said. “It is the Sasquatch children who suffer most.”
Sources confirm that Canadian authorities have been approached by the FWS regarding a joint effort in land management benefitting the Sasquatch. Lieutenant Governor Judith Guichon of British Columbia, whose province is believed by U.S. government environmental scientists to be home to the largest population of sasquatches in North America, has failed to respond so far, other than handing out copies of the FWS letter during a holiday party. Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has issued no official response, but was inadvertently caught on camera rolling his eyes during a telephone communication on the issue with the FWS director’s office, say sources close to the prime minister.

When the subject of general skepticism among the public in regards to the existence of the Sasquatch was broached, Ms. Faroosh responded that some people still deny the existence of Global Warming and the Holocaust. “We can’t be good stewards of the Earth if we’re willing to allow the fringe element in our society to govern our actions,” Ms. Faroosh said. “These people couldn’t care less about the plight of certain species or the health of the planet, and it behooves true Americans to ignore the rhetoric of hate that continuously emanates from those quarters.” Ms. Faroosh went on to assert that sasquatches, or “these gentle giants of the Great Northwest” are “people too,” endowed with “the desire to provide the best for their children” essentially the same as humans.
The White House also issued a statement late Friday afternoon indicating that President Obama looks forward to a bipartisan solution to the problem of dwindling Sasquatch habitat. “The president will consider any ideas as long as they are balanced,” the statement said.

The only thing Todd standing has proved, is the saying, "Fake it til you make it", is a popular mindset for invested sasquatch researchers. He has no evidence and even less credibility. He is trying to validate his mystical experiences as more profound than they are. He thinks he is special. He has loose screws, is a loose canon, and has no discernment or grasp of reality.

Thanks everyone for your replies, and Rusty you made some excellent points as to why we should question the original two videos.

The doco has been released on Netflix so hopefully more of you will be willing to have a look. I'm sure we can all agree that Todd Standing's evidence is dubious at best, however... having just re-watched the footage (labelled 'Video 8' starting at the 1hr 45 mark), I still don't know how to explain that one! Honestly, if you have the opportunity, watch it! It is potentially up there with the Patty film.

I only lasted 35mins and fell asleep. To me Todd Standing came across as a used car sales man trying to push a sale. What i cant understand is why the two good Drs would be involved in this??? Dr. Jeff Meldrum is so very respected and someone i have the upmost respect for.
Thats my 2 cents worth

I don't know much about Todd or his 'research' but at a cursory glance he seems like another example of an Aspergers sufferer, which seems pretty common in the bigfoot/yowie/ufo/paranormal scene.

As much as we would like to examin evidence and let it stand on its own merits, it would be naive to not look closely at the person presenting it.

Aspergis or mildly autistic.

Wes Germer, his brother Woody and the host of The Confessionals podcast break down Todd's movie in the beginning of this Sasquatch Chronicles episode... https://sasquatchchronicles.com/sc-ep39 ... the-woods/

Both Wes and Woody slammed Todd hard a while back, but now both have done a complete 360. Todd's audio and footage have convinced them because it is so similar to what they saw and heard.

"The California Department of Fish & Game

The Bigfoot Interview

The following interview was conducted on 12/08/08 at the California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) headquarters in Sacramento, CA. NABS had heard that the state maintained a file on Bigfoot and we wanted to determine if this was true. After several phone calls, we were able to speak to the individual that was the contact person regarding the file, Eric Loft, Chief of the Wildlife Branch. Chief Loft gave NABS complete access to the file, allowed us to copy its contents and then gave our Executive Director, David Paulides an extensive interview regarding the DFG's position on Bigfoot and his personal background with the biped. What follows is the first ever interview with a Chief from DFG and their background with Bigfoot. Refer to the second section of this page for details on the file and what it contains.

The interview;

Questions- Eric Loft, Chief, Wildlife Branch, California DFG

1. How long have you been employed by California Department of Fish and Game?
A- 20 Years

What is your educational background? A- Ph.D., Ecology , University of California, Davis
What is your role? A- Researcher and Manager

2. How many times have you been interviewed on Bigfoot related issues?
A- None, I came here in 1988 and people before me have been interviewed but not me.

What did you specifically do to prepare for this meeting?
A- I reviewed your groups website. I also called Mike Carion who is the enforcement’s Asst. Chief in Redding and asked him if he had any files on Bigfoot.

Did Chief Carion have any files on Bigfoot?
A- No

3. How long have you been aware that there is a Bigfoot file in the DFG?
A- 10 years

Who maintains the file?
A- Our Office of Communications, Education, and Outreach

Who inside of DFG has access to the file?
A- Anyone

Who initiated the file?
A non-game program in the 1970’s

4. What is your personal experience with Bigfoot?
A- I’ve heard strange things in the woods that can’t easily be explained. I’ve read books on the topic from the 1970’s.

5. Does the DFG have;
Photos of Bigfoot? A- Unknown
Hair of Bigfoot? A- Unknown
Tissue of Bigfoot? A- Unknown
Body of Bigfoot? A- Unknown, but, on each of these issues I’m not positive that we don’t. Sometimes samples are submitted by the enforcement branch to their lab for forensic tests on poaching cases, and we don’t hear about the results. I do have a lab that’s under me in Rancho Cordova but they primarily research disease in animals, etc. I believe the US Fish and Wildlife lab in Oregon does extensive DNA testing and anything that might be submitted by our enforcement branch could go there for any DNA work if the forensics unit cannot work it.

6. Has the DFG ever assisted a federal agency in any type of Bigfoot investigation?
A- The enforcement branch of DFG would do this type of investigation and I’m not aware of anything we’ve done along those lines.

7. Does your agency classify Bigfoot as an animal?
A- No, we classify it is a phenomena

8. How many DFG employees have personally reported seeing a Bigfoot?
A- None, that I’m aware.

9. How many reports from citizens do you or DFG have taken that have stated they’ve seen a Bigfoot or had a Bigfoot encounter?
A- Just the ones in the file.

10. What policy or dictate does DFG have for field personnel regarding Bigfoot and the handling of Bigfoot related issues.
A- None, but, there was a policy proposed for public requests to obtain a Scientific Collecting Permit that is in the file that you are going to copy. The policy was never implemented but it was documented and placed in the file.

11. Does the DFG have an internal name for Bigfoot/ Sasquatch or Wild Man?
A- No

12. What would be DFG’s response if a field Warden found a Bigfoot body in the woods?
A- I’ll assume we’d first try to determine of it was animal or human and base the response accordingly. If it was determined to be human, the county coroner in that area would have jurisdiction. We only have jurisdiction if it is a known animal that we recognize in the state of California, if it isn’t, we don’t have jurisdiction. If it isn’t an animal described in the Fish and Game Code or in regulations set by the Fish and Game Commission, then we likely have little jurisdiction.

13. How many books have you read on Bigfoot?
A- Earlier in my life I had read a few. The topic was interesting and I tried to keep an open mind.

14. Prior to arriving as the person in charge of Bigfoot issues for DFG, who had that job?
A. Nobody specifically, we had the mentality of “who wants to respond to the guy calling /writing about Bigfoot?”.

15. How many times have you been contacted regarding Bigfoot related questions or issues, internally or outside DFG?
A. Just this one.

16. Who briefed you about the meeting today?
A. The administrative assistant for the Director. I didn’t talk to the director about it but she (The Admin) told me about you and I did look at your groups website.

17. Are you aware of any forensic testing being initiated or completed by DFG on any Bigfoot blood, tissue, hair or scat?
A. No, but hair samples from our studies that we cannot identify go to a lab we contract with in Montana. Our enforcement division would normally handle any issues along the lines of your question as it relates to forensic testing.

18. Does any state or federal agency to your knowledge possess a Bigfoot body?
A- No

19. How many meetings have you had with other state or federal agencies where the topic of Bigfoot was discussed?
A- None

20. To your knowledge, has there ever been a recovery of large human type bones that were DNA tested by any state agency that came back as human, but, were much larger then any normal human?
A- No

21. What was removed from this file prior to our meeting?
A- Nothing that I am aware.

Is there a secondary or private file on Bigfoot that is maintained by DFG?
A- Not that I am aware. Double-checked with OCEO and with our database managers. No one is aware of any additional information that the Department has regarding Bigfoot.

22. Was there anything that you were instructed not to discuss with me at this meeting?
A- No

23. Did DFG conduct an investigation on me or my group in preparation for this meeting?
A- No

24. Who is your counterpart on Bigfoot related issues in the federal sector?
A- You would probably need to go to the BLM on some issues and on others you should go to the US Forest service office on Mare Island in Vallejo.

25. Have many field investigations been conducted by Wardens on Bigfoot related issues?
A- None that I know about.

26. How often do you field questions from Wardens or other DFG employees regarding Bigfoot?
A- Never

27. How often does DFG have staff camp in the woods on special projects?
A- This occurs quite often during the summer months. Some of these people are in the woods for up to 2 weeks on special studies.

Have you ever had one of these field personnel contact you regarding a possible Bigfoot incident?
A- No

28. How many game track cameras does DFG possess?
A- We probably have many dozen but they are owned by the study group inside DFG that is conducting that specific research. There is not one central point that possess the cameras and later loans them out. They are spread throughout our agency.

Have you ever seen a game track photo that could possibly be related to Bigfoot?
A- No

29. Are you aware of any state or federal agency that has ever studied the Patterson- Gimlin film from 1967 in Bluff Creek?
A- No

NABS would like to thank Eric for his time and allowing this interview!!

He said that his brothers often heard someone following them and paralleled them as they walked on trails. In 1925 he states that he was fishing on McCoy Creek in Mendocino County and camped there and found three sets of human type tracks. Later he said he was trying to rustle deer out of the brush when he awoke a red colored Bigfoot from its bed under the same brush. He said that it smelled like a sweaty human but he could see white skin under its reddish hair. Years later he stated that he was hunting in “Low Gap Creek” area when he saw a blonde Bigfoot crawl out of the tree and leave the area on two feet. “The next sighting was in 1953 while I worked for the City of Seatte Power and light company on their RR up the Skagit River. As I approached a talus rock slide I saw steam arising from the rocks (there was some snow on the ground) as I slipped up expecting to see a bear but it was a black haired B.F. curled up sleeping with its back to the crevice opening, it smelled human. That summer I was in a boat fishing on Ross Lake near Ruby Inlet when I saw something swimming across the inlet. I rowed over to see what it was, it was a big brown haired BF, so I got out of there as I did not care to have it hitch a ride in my small boat.” The paper is fascinating and contains many credible aspects of Bigfoot life.

The photo at the beginning of this thread, was suspiciously stopped above the nose. Consequently, it may well be of a Mountain Gorilla.

The photo is a screenshot I took of Todd Standing's footage. The footage clearly shows the camera zoom in to a tree stump in a forest where the face is visible looking back. Whether it's a man or a sasquatch, to me it does not resemble a gorilla, and it is definitely not a puppet. Could be someone in prosthetics? Or could be real? I have no idea.

I fell asleep three times watching this on netflix. You would think that Standing and those scientists would go over that footage with a fine tooth comb to prove its real and bring in all sorts of experts to verify it but they dont even bother.

Excellent article and portrays Todd very well. He is nothing more than a money laundering trying to be famous scheme artist.

It even goes into a guy called Matthew Johnson at the end, which made me chuckle, as I had a confrontation with him on Facebook once, I said something which didnt fit his belief system, he then tried to do psychoanalysis on me which were just bunch of insults, the article sums up his intellect and him very well.

Yes, if true, the article explains a lot.

I'm leaning towards the 'footage' is fake but the tree breaks, whistles and likely Meldrum's 'sighting' are real.
They are after all, in an area trappers knew was a 'hotspot' (according to the article).
The man certainly seems mildly autistic in his enthusiasm. I have taught kids with a very similar 'energy' that had aspergis or some form of autism.

My wife and I watched it the other night, Todd claims to be an ex-sniper and moves sort of well (at times) in his 'look-at-me-I'm-a-forest-ninja' drone shots. My wife put it well, "He moves like a city boy who thinks he knows how to move through the bush."

My conclusion, the area Todd filmed this show at least WAS a hotspot and the good professors may have even had genuine encounters, but it was pretty much just that... a show. The footage (some of it) is convincing but could be easily hoaxed and the muppet head bigfoot is obviously a hoax so the other footage has to be suspect at minimum.

I mean, I've never seen one but ALL reports/descriptions I have read have one thing in common, a long upper lip. NONE of Todd's images do.
