A frightening sound in the night in the late 197o's

G'day All,
I hope I get this done correctly as Computers and I are Mortal Enemies at times, although I am slowly improving.
I had a real strange event late at night when I lived in Hilltop a then, small Village in The Southern Highlands which is near Mittagong N.S.W. about 100 KS South of Sydney. I believe Hilltop is quite large nowadays.
We lived at the top of the hill in Raglan Street in those days about 1978 there was a Bushfire Tower across the road from us it has been removed now. While watching T.V. one night at around 11.00 p.m. with my now ex- wife we heard a strange " yell " or what we thought was a yell. Going outside with a good camping torch I had I went down to our small back gate and looked up and down the street that intersected with Raglan street but saw nothing or heard nothing.
There was a Gully and Bush across the road from us where our 2 Kids played all the time. I ventured into the Bush and just as I did the same sound but louder rang out across the Gully. It was a cross between a sound similar to a Gibbon Monkey which I had heard on Animal Shows on T.V.. It also had a Scream type noise mixed in and even had a sort of gibberish, type word sounds .Usually I watch any animal show as I like all sorts of animals and seem to have a rapport with them which I enjoy a lot. This sound was nothing like I'd ever heard before or since despite many years of Camping in our Bush and exploring other Countries when I started to travel a couple of years after the event.
That sound will live in my memory until I fall off the perch as it was so strange and quite unusual. We went up to see Rex Gilroy at Katoomba a few weeks later for a day out and I reported the incident to him as at the time he was the only person I had heard about who was researching Yowies/Bigfoot. We had a really interesting chat with Rex and I found him very informative and quite eager about what we had heard.
I'd love to see the Yowie question solved before my days end and as I'm turning 70 later this year I'm running short on time. I wish you all well and the best of luck in your search for the truth to prove what we know to be true in Nature.
Cheers, Denis May.
