Thylacoleo carnifex - Marsupial Lion thread

Since we don't have a specific forum for the Thylacoleo carnifex or Marsupial Lion, I figured it might be an idea to make one here.

There are a number of threads spread around AYR discussing this cryptid, so I'll link to those here so we have everything in one central location.

In the meantime, here's a show that discusses the beast a little if you're not familiar with Australia's possibly most fearsome marsupial cryptid.

Gary opit has shared a book from the early 1920’s , put in some pics so all can read, very cool, best part is the book was written before the so called extinction of the tassie tiger, I’ll find the pics

I had read of the Thylacoleo up north, but nowhere else, and this book excerpt mentions that range, Tully, Atherton. Nice find, and thank you for sharing it.

Just found someone selling a copy of that book on eBay, HominidHunter - $140

AND found this nifty 52 minute long video about the Thylacoleo skeletons found in a cave on the Nullabor Plain (much as the Thylacine mummy was).

My Grandmother borne in 1919 and long since passed on used to tell of a type of wild large cat that she used to see often where she grew up out around Warialda and Biniguy in far western NSW .
I remember her saying that they would sit up in the wilga trees that grow out that way. ???
She was old when I was young so my recollection of her story is vague at best . But I certainly remember her telling me about it and how scared she was of the thing !
Not sure if what she was talking about is one of these critters but she most certainly was not talking about a domestic pussy that’s for sure.
Are there other forum members that have heard of this type of animal or know of older relatives from out in the north west of NSW who may have additional reports of such an animal

This story was posted in March on a Facebook group I'm on called 'Strange Creatures of Victoria', by a lady named Sarah Alsop (the page Admin). It's a recollection of a story told to her last August and it goes thusly;

"This report was shared to me back in August 2017 by Gordon Williams from ARFRA.

This animal was sighted and seen with young on occasion and also having chased locals around the Bambra area, the locals were fearful it would attack their children or themselves as it seemed quite aggressive in nature.

My pop Cecil Alsop shot this animal (or one fitting its description) on their 10 acre property at Bambra between 1960-1965. The night it was shot, he found it as he went to use the outside toilet within 10mts of the house. It took two men Pop and Geoff to carry the animal inside the house which was then placed on their 6 seater kitchen table top taking up the whole length.

1.5mts long including tail 60cm long, chest width 30cm long, slightly curved tail, big paws, (body) sandy in colour with black stripes.

After showing Geoff many different images of species including the thylacine, this was the closest fitting description with the only difference being the head was slightly wider, fatter and the nose wasn't as rounded compared to this image below.

Geoff helped carry the animal back outside and is unsure what became of it after that; it may have been dumped in the back paddock or surrounding bushland or even skinned with the fur being sold in Colac as he did with the rabbits.

Pop was quite a strong man at the time working in the bush felling trees, making fences, filling pot holes, carting tools etc. as life was back then quite hard, so this animal must have had some weight to it.

This report makes me think no one knows what vocalizations thylacoleo made along with the color patterns in the fur, could some of these sightings be a sub species, a distant relative of this beast that once roamed Australia?
