Here is an interesting article I found today. A little old but even 13 years ago
they (academics) where talking about super sized feral cats and I am off this
view, that there are no panthers per say but rather super sized feral that
are changing into something else.
here is the article

Gday Ray , I go around Gippsland all the time investigating , and whilst I have seen normal sized feral cats , I have
found definite cat foot prints 3-4 times bigger than your average moggie

HI Mate
I have been watching alot of Feral Cat hunting video to see what we can see and the biggest was 20KG, massive cat.
However, I am keen to go out with some hunters up here to see how big of a one we can find. Feral cats are the scourge
of Australian Wildlife and need to go.
If I find any massive ones I will post it here

I have reason to believe some feral cats may grow to weigh in at about 40kg. What are your thoughts on that?

I don’t know about getting to over 40kgs but over my years of hunting wild dogs the biggest feral cat I’ve shot was 23 kgs on a property near Upper Horton.

Just went thru upper Horton yesterday 4am and 6pm.
I was surprised at the amount of feral cats I seen feasting on side of road.
