Hi, just had three pretty random questions about yowie for a while.

1) Yowie hair samples. We frequently heard reports that Yowie walking through the bush as if no obstacles at all. In that case, I 'd imagine their hair samples hanging on tree branches, must be a lot right? Any findings in the bush about those?

2) Besides Yowie in the forest I talked a lot, are there any "plain yowies?" or "desert yowies" at all? The central area of Australia is mostly unexplored. My question is "how unexplored"? not a single person walked through in the past 100 years? Is there no chance to have desert yowies or there is chance, but just because no one will go to the middle of nowhere to see/report them?

3) If your kids schools plan for a camping, will you allow your kids to go? Say, my kids school says we are planning a overnight camping in Noojee, VIC, I would be "WTF, my kids wont go for sure. lol"

I would like to give you my two cents on your questions

In my experience they are like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. Historical reports from people tell us that logs, barbed wire fence lines are probably some of the best places to find them

Is there no chance to have desert yowies or there is chance, but just because no one will go to the middle of nowhere to see/report them? you would have to check historical sighting reports in this forum and on the internet to see, perhaps any researchers in WA or the NT maybe able to help. I have been told about report in Jabaru in the NT but I dont know if there is a detailed list

The most famous sighting of this nature was former Senator Bill O'Chee who saw one on a school camp. Me, personally, not worried at all as it has been my experience that they may be more concerned about us in those sorts of public places, but hey, anything can happen right?

Hair samples are literally a need in a haystack. If your lucky enough to sight a yowie then see where hair has been left behind then half the job is done - but one would think that even if you find a hair, many times its so close to a humans OR will be classified as a dog as has been mentioned by some shonky labs ( no pun intended ) around the place.

There seems to be random reports of Yowies in open country areas - and even desert type landscapes. How they survive is anyones guess! Seems like there would be a greater chance for a smaller version to exist and that area being at least partially tree covered to offer some kind of shade from the sun. Although it would be safe to assume that those kind of sightings are rare - there was one by AYR of a sighting in Broken Hill which was crazy when you think of the terrain out that way.

Would I let my kids go camping - sure. Would i encourage them to go exploring on their own - NOPE! It seems safety in numbers is the best solution. Chances of getting taken is always present but slim to the say the least.
