My Foxtel's new 4K channel is now up and running just in time for the first live telecast in Oz. As many will know, that will be the Bathurst 1000 motor race starting at 11 am this Sunday, 7th October. Can't help it if I'm a sports nut and a rev head. That's just the way I was brought up...
Having some mates around for a BBQ, a beer and hopefully, some thrills and spills from the big race.
A 4K picture is said to be 20 times better than S.D. and 4 times better than H.D. The test loop playing at the moment seems to justify those claims. To get 4K you need a satellite dish receiver (not cable), a 4K compatible TV, a Foxtel Sports subscription and an IQ4 set top box. I believe it's well worth the outlay.
As this new technology becomes more commonplace, I can only hope some bright spark will eventually outsmart the elusive Yowie (or Bigfoot) and capture a crystal clear 4K image. Or perhaps as the old Go West song goes... "'Im the King of Wishful Thinking".

I agree Searcher. The technology will eventually catch up. Once its readily available at an affordable price, we may get a better a look at the elusive hairy buggers!

You are right Yowie Bait... technology could be the answer. I refuse to believe the forest dwelling hairy man is smarter than us. I've always thought hi-tech pinhole spy cameras could get results. Surveillance equipment similar to that used by CIA and KGB operatives could be hidden inside logs, rocks or trees along known tracks... although getting hold of suitable military grade hardware could be a problem! Deception could be a ploy. Just like a good magician draws his audience's attention with one thing while he is secretly doing something else. Another issue is you would need multiple cameras. Putting just one in the incredibly vast Australian bush would be akin to finding a needle in a haystack.

Yes with the giga pixel and miniaturization spy technology we are getting closer all the time.
The hairy men are said to be a curious lot and bound to get caught out. Even a head and shoulders peeking from behind a tree would give us a real good look with one of these high quality cameras opposed to the blob squatch pics we are accustomed too.
Might take a few years but when the technology becomes affordable the hairys will have to be extra cautious!!
