While on our hike from Kanangra to Katoomba over the long weekend we camped at the Cox's River and I placed a sound recorder out in the bush away from our camp while we slept to see if we could record anything suspicious. This is what we recorded.

Amazing hike Dan. Well done mate. The sound recordings you captured are obviously from a very remote area. Little chance of humans being off track way out there. Just my 2 cents but some of those sounds appear to be bipedal walking.. very interesting..

The Circled area is the Location where we captured these recordings. No houses or other people for miles around. No Roads nearby either.

That's one hell of a walk Daniel .
There's something about hiking and exploring though and the prospect of finding something while your doing it .
Do many people walk those trails ?

Geese Yowiedan what a walk,

I was feeling you pain half way through watching that hike, that would of taken me over a week to accomplish.

Shame you couldnt get much Yowie stuff done, however I am sure you will say its the experience that counts.

That was a really arduous trek, yowiedan. On second thought, make that torturous trek! It was a real adventure for Adam, John and yourself. I certainly felt your pain with those blistered feet. There are quite a few tricks you can use to avoid blisters another time.

The video was excellent with your mountain hike very well documented. And it seems you came very close to the unknown. I reckon you may have felt a cold chill run down your back when you replayed those footsteps and realized how close the group came to an actual encounter.

Rusty, we came across only 10 people on the whole trail. Two of whom were a Korean couple that were lost and on the wrong trail. Six of these people were just doing a day hike, so we were all alone everyday and night. Even though we were exhausted after each days hike we did look around a little but only for a short time unfortunately.

I was recently talking to a guy doing lone remote hiking , sometimes on known trails , he had an experience . We postulated that the hairy people would know about the hiking trails , aware that humans used them and may keep quiet around them .

I seem to have had more results in areas that are not that far away from houses etc, but the Cox's River area did give me a feeling that something may be around there. When we were setting up camp I heard a massive tree break then followed by two wood knocks over the next 20 minutes. I don't think I will ever put my body through that again as it makes it too tough to research when you reach your camping spot. You're just too exhausted to do anything. Simple 1-day hikes to locations or drive the car to remote spots then set up camp and then hike around at night will suit me from now on.

Yeah , it's funny , quite a number of reports down this way very close to homes .
