Another top report with a very clear description of the yowie (or jungadee) in this roadside encounter! There was the usual "if only" moment in her sighting. She said her phone wasn't switched on or she would have got some photos. She had it in view for 40-50 seconds. Moral of the story is to always have your phone charged up and switched on when driving through the bush at night. You never know what will show up in your headlights... (eek)
Mark my words, one day HD dashcam footage will show something that will shock a lot of people. Mind you, the naysayers will claim it was just a man in a suit and we'll be back to square one.

Some very good eye witness reports lately .
I've never heard anyone describe the subject as "beautiful" .

A beautiful, extraordinary, amazing creature! Women seem to get the better descriptions. Maybe they have a better eye for detail?

The Jean Malony report at Woodenbong and the women on horse back at Jiggi both said it was beautiful.
Now this Roma report saying the same thing.
Your right with the ‘eye for detail’ thing Yb.

Yes they did and the lady practicing her singing in the natural amphitheater was quite enamored by her experience as well!

That's an excellent description. I agree that a lot of the more recent ones have been top-notch.

Driving through part of the Avon Wilderness yesterday in mountainous Victoria, I was keeping an eye out for anything unusual. Noticing some movement by the side of the road, I stopped the car...and faster than Wyatt Earp draws his six shooter, I whipped out my fully charged and trusty iPhone and snapped a photo.

No, it wasn’t a giant hairy man… just a little ol' spiny anteater. At least the picture wasn’t blurry even though it was moving away. And that ‘practice run’ told me the chances of getting a clear shot if I was lucky enough to ever see the real thing were better than even money. :D

Hi Searcher. I get your gun slinger reference; to be quick in the moment.
Reminds me of old school photographers, before automation. As the celebrity leaves the
night club they had to manually focus, click and wind film all while walking backwards,
even more skill to change the f. stop or shutter speed.
That doesn’t happen anymore, much easier, but as you say you’ve just got to be ready and vigilant.

The photo we want would be taken only a few metres from the Yowie, like your Echidna shot
but the problem is a free standing clear figure of a Yowie within 6 to 8 metres of yourself,
I’d be more likely to run then risk one second of my life holding the camera up to take a photo.
I get the feeling that any film or still shot of a figure taken more than 8-10 metres away can always
be claimed to be fake.

I agree with what you have said previously about the close up photo will most likely come from a dash cam;
50 k’s on the dirt and you come around a corner and surprise surprise human and Yowie are on top of
each other before they know it and if the dash cam is rolling…… wa-la.

Spot on, Tuckeroo. I spent time working in TV news in my younger days and saw first hand how good some of these camera guys were. (It was not yet time for ladies to show their ability.) They would bring the ‘money shot’ back for me to edit time and time again, no matter how difficult the news and current affairs assignment was.

Film gear was often cumbersome and required a special set of skills to operate many functions at once. Set up in an instant, dial the exposure, roll film, frame, focus, pan, zoom, tilt, keep focus… whatever it took. These news professionals did it with ease as they were well practiced having their cameras with them 24/7. They had to take them home in case of having to rush to a breaking story. No time to go to the TV Station first to pick up gear! Some earned the nickname ‘Ace’ which was always well deserved. Ahhh… as former cameraman Wolf would agree, those were the days!
