Sunshine Coast Audio

A local resident of this area on the Sunshine Coast in QLD heard some strange barking noises in November 2018 and contacted independent researcher, Ron Quinton for assistance in trying to figure out what was making them. Ron contacted wildlife expert, Gary Opit for assistance which Gary was not able to assign to known Australian Wildlife. Is This a Yowie making these noises?

Just put it through car speakers. Sounds much like the other possible yowie barks you, Rusty and Dan and others have collected.

Hi yb, ron and i sent this audio to rusty, he replied they are the same noises he was collecting down there. Good news that people have same audio from different areas.

That IS good news !
I'm not sure but this might be the first barking type vocalisation I've heard from Queensland .

Thanks again Rusty for cleaning up the audio and thanks Dee for passing it onto Rusty.
I am going out there on Saturday night to the area in question just to have a look around.

Yep thats great stuff Dee. I guess if we get them from all over Oz then it would rule out any localised animals? I will have to get off my ass and leave my recorder out. Maybe ill get the same bark? (thumb up)

Hi, its ok. Ron does his own stuff further up the coast. Ron just sent it to me so i could have a listen and he asked if i could send it to rusty. Seems a lot is going on up that way, not sure if its the same family with this audio but theres a family with 2 kids that see a male bigfoot getting in there shed at night. Ron told them to put cams up and bigfoot? got angry, went to the kids bed window and on the roof and wrecked there solar panels. There asking for help. Maybe ron could fill you in on this one. Dee

If I was a Yowie, Mooloolah and the water-rich valleys behind up into the range would have to be one of my top choice places to live and roam, endless clean, flowing water from numerous creeks, Old Growth areas of tree cover, and plenty of tucker, both 'natural' and planted by man. (Permaculture is huge in that area)

Rusty Im trying to send you a message but theres no send button. It just sits in the outbox.
I wanted to ask you if you have any audio recorders you want to sell.
Would rather help you recuperate your expenses than buy new.
Cheers
Rip

Hey ripperton , I may actually need them again if I need to check my figures or estimates in the future .
I gave my first mono audio recorder away and now I can't use it to check old audio .
Sorry mate , otherwise I'd give one to you !

Don't get that one , it's not stereo , it's probably 8bit and you'll be disappointed .

If you get the one in the link below , you can use my charts to calculate distance , impact , and step lengths/height of what your catching .

I'd just like to correct that .
In order to to calculate distance , impact , and step lengths/height of what your catching you will also need this program .
https://store.izotope.com/store?Action= ... ngCartPage

Even if you don't buy the above program , the audio recorder I'm recommending is stereo 16bit and has a usb recharge function that will allow you to record for an entire week .
You'll need a 1100mah portable phone charger connected to the usb port of the audio recorder for it to work .

The audio recorder is the most important thing , you can buy the other stuff later . If we all use the same recording equipment with the same settings we can help each other .

That 412 is a bit tricky to get, therers one in the states I can get for about $150AUD.
What about this one for $90 in Sydney

Yeah , the 412 is getting harder to find .
The good thing about it is that I'll know that it's going to be a close match and I can use those charts to help you if you find anything odd .
If you get something else then you'll be on your own as far as bipedal footsteps and calls are concerned .

Couldn't figure out how to get the soundcloud player to embed in the forum, but whatever. What I did was took OP's file, scrubbed it, ran it through a noise reduction filter with Audacity and bumped the volume up by about 20% - it's a bit clearer now and not as much static as the initial recording.

Thanks Didge , yeah that's the one however since writing the above comments I now realise that the microphones are probably stuffed .
They lose their sensitivity over time (break down) and it won't match the audio anymore .
How are you !

One of the interesting things about that recording are the dogs barking further in the distance. They provide a stark contrast to the unidentified initial vocal sound, and are clearly a response to it.
