Its yowie time!

I have a team of people itching to prove the yowie exists so we are thinking of starting a massive circle camp in the pilliga. 20 people camping in a large circle about 100 meters apart. If any unusual noise or activity starts then we all walk in towards the center to see what we can find. Has anyone tried something like this? I know that whatever is in there will know we are there before we know its there but we are all keen bushy's with lots of experience in hunting and tracking. No drinking or shooting will be happening so we are not loud and dont pose to be a threat of any kind. Its there bushland and there home so we will be behaving like any guest and treating all our movements with great respect. Anyone done this or would like to give it a go?
Cheers everyone

You're a lot braver than I am.
I'm no expert, but I'd imagine that even if they were observing from a distance they'd be unlikely to put themselves in a vulnerable position in that manner.
Might be a lot of fun anyway, though!

Its not such a bad idea although the circle area in my opinion would need to be a lot larger. The encampments could be a kilometre apart using uhf radios and slowly decreasing the circle in 100 meter increments to detect via communication any movements within the circle. Dreamland expensive though, if every group had a thermal camera a decreasing circle would force anything trying to escape between two thermals. More likely the subject would move to the centre and higher ground. I think this because of an old report from an early settler around here who reported a conversation with a man who witnessed the killing of a grey hairy man near the junction of the Yass and Murrumbidgee Rivers.. the method was encircling as you are suggesting.. I'll attach the clipping.

I cant imagine a Yowie unwittingly wandering into the circle.
The first thing they would see is the circle.
The ones in the Pilliga are head cases (psycho).
Anyway bring lots of presents for them.

Worth a try!
But I do agree with Ripperton, they will see the camps and may smell a rat.
Also, if one does lurk towards the centre and the group moves in - be wary the cornered wild beast. In saying this I don't believe one will put themselves in that position. More than likely they will move around the fringe of the camps.
If the 100 metres apart does not work, try increasing the distance. Temptations in the centre might also help - e.g., food left out.
Also just a thought, some strategic trail cameras (because we know they can easily spot them) may eliminate some of their movement in certain areas. Hence, reducing the area needed when moving in. Any hurried escape may trigger a camera.
I think its an exciting proposal, good luck. Would be great fun - wish I was living down that way, would be in it.
