Great photos! Especially capturing maybe two. Did you see or hear anything before taking the shots and what was the aftermath of taking the photos?

Hi, Garreth was just walking along with his dogs at Mapylton, he and the dogs did not sense anything. He simply just took snapshots as he was walking along. It wasnt until he got home and discovered these on his camera. It was good that the camera took 2 photos as the 1st shot looked as if it was just standing there watching him. The 2nd pic u can see the subject turning away. As far as i am aware nothing happened out there. Ron can jump in and answer some questions as he may know more about it. I think there interesting too.
Mapylton is a interesting place, we have had a lot of activity there, but there are several yowie enthusiasts that cover the area. Ron and i were out 1 night when you could here something paddling through a dam up there, pretty eerie.I think Ron is going out there tonight. Dee

Hey Dee
Yeah certainly interesting.
Firstly I am guessing the pictures were taking off a phone or something with a low pixel rate?.
It does look like a dark figure which can be seen through the foliage, ie Head, shoulder and body, the head displaying what looks like facial expression, with eyes, an upward pointing nose and mouth, even a set of teeth?
Certainly one of the better images I have seen..... however due to the low pixels trying to blow it up it could well be pareidolia of a tree fern, stump etc.
And there is only one way to know for sure what it was and that is to verify by going back.
A great picture and well worth posting thanks for sharing and Garreth for giving permission.

As Dion Said, the guy who took the picture needs to go back and do some follow up research. I have studied this picture already as it was posted on Facebook. I think it's just part of the bush being broken fern or fallen tree. It interesting but just Pareidolia.

Hi, i just got clarification the photo was taken from his phone. Ron wont be able to find the exact location so Garreth is going back this week to stand in the same spot on the same angle to take another pic. This really needs to be done. Even though 2 pics were taken, 1 of it standing there and 1 of it turning away. It has been storming here with over 100mm of rain so hope the pic doesnt change to much. Pitty he didnt go back out the next day to retake the photo.Live and learn i guess. Really want this looked into cause if its not pereidolia, its a awesome photo. Ron will clarify stuff about it when he gets online. Fingers crossed.

Hi Dee
For me the first image appears to be a stump the other images are interesting and I concur with Dion's observations of features but could just be pareidolia of a tree fern stump. I think there's another goid litmus test hear in that the Garreth's dogs didn't reacte but they could have been down wind.
Cheers

Looks like pareidolia to me.
I see a stump with branches and leaves in front of it.

Hi all
The guy who snapped the pics has been trying to organise a time to get back out there but work commitments have been in the way. But as soon as we get the pics I will put them on the site for viewing.
Also I have sent the pic to Gary Opit who scrutinised it with his programmes to try and clear the pic up and he was blown away with it.

It's definitely interesting... It would be great to see an empty frame in the follow up.

If he used a phone, why didn't he press the video button instead of the photo button? And kept it running. There would be a heap more information to evaluate! Most phones take HD video which would have given much more detail, including movement. Until there is a secondary evaluation of the exact site, for me, the 'face' could simply be pareidolia. Having said that, I would really like it to be genuine!

A bit of colour enhancement and contrast adjustment. Interesting to find out if the subject is still there.

Hi, yes, the wait feels so long. Wish ron and i knew of the exact location cause then we would just duck out and take the pics. But it is his area and i am hoping the wait will be worth it--i too am hoping its genuine.
I dont know why but if i have to pull my camera out i always take snapshots as well, not videos with it. No idea why, so something to remember for myself next time. Even my bush cams are all set on pictures only (batteries do last longer out there in this mode).

Hi adventurer. I should have said movement
and sound. As Rusty has clearly shown, audio can be telling and it all happens when the video button is pressed.
The other good thing with video is you will have possibly 1000's of frames to select high quality still images from. My iPhone 8 records 4K video at 24, 30 or 60 fps with optical image stabilization. Will be watching the development of this case with much interest.

Hey Dee
I see the deers head aswell, I noticed it in some of the outlines that had been drawn. When looking at the original image again it does seem like there is something in front of the other.
Cheers

Hi Greg, i am really bad with tech. All i know is to use windows media player with my videos, press on video up top and scroll down to"take snapshot", thats how i get pics from my videos.
Prob a good thing for us, if 1 of us ever got a great photo, no one can accuse us for changing/manipulating them lol. My daughter taught me to copy and paste last year lol.
Yes, i noticed the face at the bottom. I think its circled there.Oh, thats "Paint "where u can draw on a pic lol.
Now on top of it iv got a new windows 10 laptop i dont even know how to use.Im using the old slow laptop w 7 still !
Anyone know of a good program for pictures to try make them clearer? ( keeping the originals of course) Dee

Hey Dee
There's a phone app called "AF" that you can use to focus specific parts of an image. Ray Doherty used it for his tree peaker image. I'm not that good with yet but if play around with it you never know.

I can see what you mean could be a deers head. This blown up image from the bottom of one of the pics is interesting..
