I've come across these encounters before, but this write-up covers them very well indeed.

Strangely, the creature seems more affraid of the people who have sighted it, than they do of it.
Is it a female?

To me the creature is Flesh and Blood, however it does appear to have some potent paranormal abilities.

The "dread" that people feel when they come across it, is one of its psychic defence techniques.

Another technique, would be telepathic misdirection. You'd be sure its gone one way, when really its gone another or perhaps hidden behind a tree while you run straight past it.

Always remember, that "Flesh and Blood" and the "Paranormal" are not mutually exclusive. Even a flesh and blood Yowie can exhibit paranormal behaiviour.

Perhaps on the next Yowie excursion, a practicing Witch might be useful. Might make for some interesting situations.

I have experienced that "dread" feeling myself when we were going through a period with a poltegiest in our house. Its is really debiliting, I found that I couldn't bring myself to walk into it, it bought on a strong headache and nauseous feeling. It didn't effect my husband only me and it started at the gap between my family room and kitchen and increased in intensity as I walked into it! I would imagine this to be very effective if a yowie was able to cause this to happen.
