What's the best discovery/announcement procedure?

Bearing in mind that it wouldn't be great having hoards of people from home and abroad heading to a specific location where the potentially under threat species might be. What do folk think regarding to best way to 'reveal to the world' any serious evidence eg. a skull is found or stand-out footage.
Contact scientists? Police? Authorities local/national? Do it all through 'Yowiehunters'? Delayed release e.g from cloud storage etc. Get a publicity agent?

Good questions, I have thought the same. For me I would contact Dean and run it though with him. That’s my two cents.

Personally, I would keep my mouth shut... not tell anybody, not share any 'evidence ' with any agency...
... at most I might share the experience with some forums like this one, but would not even hint at any real evidence existing.

1, they have done and are doing just fine as they are and don't need our protection.
2, I don't particularly feel like having big bro knocking on my door offering me a long stay in their accomodation facilities if I did not hand over said evidence, nor having every second 'researcher' on the planet debunk my evidence out of jealousy.

As above for me as well
With the police and other authorities being responsible for “cover ups” they’d be the last place I’d be going (eek)
Do you have something up your sleeve (alien)

What I would do as I know alot of fellow researchers who I trust to talk about what we should do and leave the skull or bones in situ until we came up with a plan to find out what the bones are from. If it ended up being from anything other than a ape type creature then we would tell the police as it could be a murder victim and the family would like closure instead of wondering what happened to their loved one. It also could be an aboriginal sacred site unknown. These possibilities are there to keep in mind. A good level head and common sense will be the key in these matters to find out what we have found and dealing with.

I think Wolf has hit the nail on the head!

I would keep it relatively quite (shared amongst trusted researchers) until I could be exactly certain as to what it is. If I could find someone in mainstream science to assist I would if not careful and methodical documentation of the evidence in situ and documentation of the site aswell.
Methodical collection and careful storage of the evidence.
Then try and find a scientist who would be willing to assist in documenting and presenting the evidence.

I think we owe it to all the witnesses out there who have put there reputation on the line to share there story.

It has to be done correctly or else those jealous researchers will be able to poke holes in it.

Ding! A Winner! ... except for the part about sharing it here.

There are no real sites with collaborative scrutiny by anyone with experience. Its best to make private YT videos and then try to work with local researchers directly. Even Jeff Meldrum is polite and will respond if you have something to look at. I have 33 YT videos, 29 of them are private lol. If you enjoy the hunt but hate the public interaction just don't do that part. I could not care less what the public thinks at this point. They are still debating existence and I'm way past that. Why should I waste my time? I'm too busy rooting around in the bush lol.

Thanks for your replies. I quite like Yowiedan and Slats's posts. I think leaving any remains in situ may well be the best approach but i think it's unlikely to be a find outside of caves. One thought i've had is that in the longterm it would be interesting if some of the more permanent stretches of river (gorges etc) could have some professional archaelogical digs along them. Of course respect and sensitivity towards traditional sites and areas is needed by anyone involved in yowie research.
I'm inclined to think the yowie/hairyman is under threat - although not previously mentioned here, i don't think the disruption to aboriginal tribes and communities has boosted numbers as the aboriginals don't seem to have systematically hunted the yowie although it's obviously adapted to avoiding mankind: probably why it has survived?

Has anyone made a connection between low 'recent' sightings in Victoria with the massive state-wide 1939 vic bushfires? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Friday_bushfires

I agree with Wolf about not telling anyone in a position of 'authority'.

I think I'd contact Dean anonymously. That'd be my course of action.

At this stage I’d be inclined to keep it to myself. There is a very real risk the trustworthy ‘expert’ you tell will turn out to be less than trustworthy. Once you share it with someone you’ve lost control of the situation and are at their mercy. The chances of their value system lining up with yours is slim. People will typically do what’s best for them. Throw notoriety and $ into the mix and boom, you’ve been sold out.

All that sounds very negative but hey, that’s human nature

Would there be any other well-known/regarded person/s in the Australian crypto scene that could be confided in?

Hey Greg
I would think Gary Opit would be another regarding any discoveries. As well as those who you personally trust.

Cheers
