UFO attack on USS Boston and HMAS Hobart Vietnam War.

It's obvious that UFO's have more than a passing interest in the military. If you can get hold of a video called UFO Conspiracy - In Search Of The Truth it tells of a direct attack on two navy ships the USS Boston and HMAS Hobart during the Vietnam war.
The first attack was on Boston then the Hobart. The US sailors reported two cylinder-shaped objects directly approaching them at night it got close enough to identify two strange alien shaped entities sitting side by side. The Hobart reported the same phenomena.
The USS Boston reported these craft in as helicopters which was apparently the code name at the time for UFO's it was worth noting that the North Vietnamese had no helicopters in their military inventory.
The two UFO's fired on the American boat destroying it but apparently no casualties.
Four F-4 Phantoms were airborne in pursuit of these unidentified objects one firing a missile at them but missed its target.
Then out of nowhere, the Hobart was hit by a missile killing one sailor. Enough of the shrapnel was recovered to identify the missile as that which had been fired by the Phantom although the Australian ship had not been in the trajectory of the US jet. The belief of the navy personnel was that these UFO's were actually directing their own weapons back at them.
The Hobart incident was reported as friendly fire although it's interesting to note that the US navy requested that their ships were to cease engagements with the so-called helicoptors (UFO's).

Well the USS Boston incident is interesting. But it was friendly fire. At the time in the vicinity two american swift boats were unde attack by north Vietnam helicopters. American f4s were sent out to right them off. It was night and they accidentally fired on the us and Australian ships. The north Vietnamese succeeded in dinking swift boat#19 killing five american men.
North Vietnam did have helicopters. Predominantly mi4 and at the time some older mi1 and mi2. These helicopters are usually meant for transport. But you could use them for light attacks or simply have someone fire out the side of one at boats. North Vietnam also captured and used several american helicopters too. In this incident it was Vietnamese mi-4AV attack helicopters. They even come equiped with side mounted rocket launchers. Not sure where you heard the north Vietnamese had no helicopters. They had plenty of them. They even had a lot of fighter jets. Mig 17s. They were fairly successful at shooting down and winning dogfights against american f4s.

I have also twice watched the documentary that recreated the UFO attack. It's a fascinating if not somewhat frightening account of this Vietnam war incident.
Bassplyr's explanation ignores a lot of what senses said, including: "
The US sailors reported two cylinder-shaped objects directly approaching them at night it got close enough to identify two strange alien shaped entities sitting side by side. The Hobart reported the same phenomena."
Doesn't sound like helicopters at all!
And yes, bassplyr we'll forgive your typos if you will forgive ours... I'd like a dollar for the number of times I've clicked submit and then wished I had taken time for another read through of what I have just written! An EDIT BUTTON facility would be really nice.

Yeah would love if we could edit our posts to correct spelling errors. Can't count the number of times I've posted something only to see it after wards and cringe at the spelling snafus. Don't know why there's no editing interface on this site. None the less yowie hunters is one of the finest sites dedicated to this subject around.
With the USS Boston incident. Keep in mind us swift boats was indeed attacked and sunk by n. Vietnamese helicopters.
Use Occam's razor here for a second. What's more likely.
Crew of the USS Boston saw a pair of alien ufos which didn't attack but instead hacked and rerouted a us missile fired from a f4 fighter and used it to attack the uss Boston.
Or,. Crew saw helicopters in the distance. Probably recognized them for what they are and were victims of friendly fire when the f4s opened up on them accidentally mistaking their lights in the night for the enemy helicopters (a unfortunately common occurrence in war). Helicopters which indeed successfully attacked and killed american seamen on those swift boats, and the whole ufo thing is bs with a few witnesses that are talking out their rear and or just plain making stuff up. I mean you wanna talk about ignoring coming sense here. .

I quoted this from the video UFO Conspiracy - In Search of the Truth, it stated that in 1968 when this incident took place there were no N. Vietnamese helicopters involved and I would be very cautious about official US military reports they are notorious for cover-ups. I find it difficult to believe that an F4 could not shoot down a slow-moving helicopter night or day. The video also stated that the Phantoms had the UFO's in there trajectory sights when the missiles were fired the Hobart was nowhere on their radar.
Apparently the code name for UFO craft was Helicopters and I would find this a very insecure encryption if there were actual enemy helicopters in the air at the time. The US military was well aware of the UFO conundrum and after these encounters, the standing orders were to refrain from any further engagement with these crafts.
So it's basically a case of who do you believe?

Hey bassplyr,
Seeing it’s a given that UFO’s exist, Occam’s razor simply doesn’t apply. The many trained crew members on the patrol boats and the ships at sea did NOT report helicopters. They clearly reported and described unidentified flying objects! You would be aware of many more details if you had seen the History Channel doco on the encounter.
Therefore it is logical and much more likely the many naval observers were accurately reporting what they witnessed first hand. They can’t ALL have been mistaken. That makes no sense at all!
So easy to identify a whirlybird… We had military helicopters in an exercise over our house in Melbourne a couple of years ago. No kidding, you could hear them a mile away and the house shook when they went over!
As for the game playing cryptic comments about ‘them orange lights’, it would be appreciated if you could lift the veil on that puzzle and explain in plain English and clear detail what your thoughts are about these mysterious and swift moving oval lights. I won't hold my breath...
