Fascinating report I reckon. Another example of aggression. Behaviorally very interesting.

That report really packed a punch
Poor guy. You can hear it in his voice. Eighteen months later, he still didn't want to go anywhere. And had to have someone else with him, even his wife. Sounds as if the encounter reduced him to the level of dependency of a child in certain respects. Horror and terror of that moment burned into his mind. Then the mind papers over it (as it must in order to continue functioning normally) and now he's able to crack jokes about the incident when he's recounting it
Many people, when hearing this report, would think that if it happened to them, they'd just freeze. And that's what I thought too, when I first listened to the report. But then I remembered when a group of us kids were chased by an enraged human. We scattered through the bush. On one side was my sister, who was a natural sprinter. And on the other side was a boy a few years older than I. If it had been an ordinary foot-race at school, they would both have left me for dead. But on that occasion, it was as if I was flying. It wasn't the normal me. Instead it was as if I was being controlled by something much faster and more instinctive than my usual thought processes. Just whipping through trees and all obstacles. The enraged human caught the older boy and began thrashing him. I was so far ahead I was able to get help and some fathers ran into the bush and intervened. Afterwards, my sister stared at me in awe and said she didn't know I could move so fast. I didn't either, until it happened. So I can understand how the guy in the above report cleared ground and straight under the wire fence. Sheer survival instincts that we don't appreciate until they reveal themselves
Wonder what would have happened if instead of the guy in the report, it had been an older guy -- or even an senior aged female -- who had ventured a bit off the road to relieve themselves? Would the yowie have remained hidden? A bluff charge aimed at an older person could well have resulted in a heart attack. Or would the trespasser have disappeared, with the final verdict being that they'd wandered away too far from the car and become confused/lost and died in the bush?

Interesting report; I wonder if the yowie is still in the area, protecting its territory?
Poor guy, that was one grumpy yowie.

It would seem that the Yowie perceived him as a threat , possibly due to his physical size being a well proportioned trucker type and he was in the process of marking out territory by the tree , well that’s how the Primeval Yowie would’ve seen the situation.
I suppose if it were a female or older person or even a child the evaluation from the Yowies perspective would have been much different.
As per the various documentaries regarding mountain gorillas eye contact with a silver back is a big no no ! This is true in humans to a large extent also .
The fella stated that he shouldn’t have locked eyes with him and that seemed to trigger the charge .
His hasty retreat made it obvious to the Yowie that the probable threat to his patch, herrom or his own masculinity that is assuming the Yowie was a male was nullified.

With your uncomfortably close encounters do you recall locking eyes with those hairies ?
I couldn’t see how one could not it is a natural response to determine the actions of a possible adversary, the eyes reveal the true intent they do not lie .

There was another human present at the encounter.
In the truck.
When do we get to hear his interview of what happened?
**I'll be happy to conduct the interview. ***

In the Jamison Valley report involving the group of soldiers, the witness stated that when one of the men urinated against a tree, the bush-ape/yowie got very upset. "Bellowed its guts out" I think is the phrase he used. So there is evidence that they are sensitive to this activity; probably as it is seen as territorial marking by them.

Ive looked one dead in the eye and told it to "get f"$#ed"among other worse things. I can only say that once i shut up and TRIED not to look at it;it stopped bullying us and eventually pissed off.
When your getting paced you have to watch where you are going as well as look at the thing to see what its going to do. Just dont protest and go with the flow and as this bloke says in the report, if they wanted to kill us theyd already done so with no problem at all.
I would say they definitely DONT like being looked in the eye or looked at in any way.

I wonder what Ol mates thoughts were regarding the flesh and blood V para theorists.
I’m sure the critter would have seemed quite real and present when it was charging with its REAL drool and teeth flashing !!
