Hey friends,

Hope all is well in your worlds.
On the weekend I ventured to the Wingello State Forest (for those not in NSW, it's a just under 2 hours south west of Sydney)
Great mixture of pine trees and gum trees.

I just wanted to see if anyone has heard of any Yowie activity around there. There was definitely some wild life (Eastern Grey's etc) and a few sources of water to sustain a predator like our mate the Yowie.

Some info would be much appreciated.

A few years ago I spent one night there with the guy who ran the NSW Yowie Research Facebook group. We never heard anything. We hiked around at night but nothing to hear or see other then spiders, fog and wombat holes.

Haha I thought you would have ventured out that way.

This is not personal encounter, but a 2nd hand one, still worth a quick comment I think since Wingello area has come up.

An Asian family had been invited on one of our 4wd club trips about 3 years ago, while at camp that afternoon I was sitting with our 4wd member who invited this man & his family [I had no contact with this guy before & he doesn't know of my interest in this Yowie subject] - they were talking about some haunted house in Fairfield, then the new guy told this story -

"Me and 3 of my work mates doing a job in Canberra for last 3 days, we had finished the job late on the Saturday evening, after a late dinner we decided to head back home instead of staying in Canberra another night so we can be back with our families. On our way back near Paddys River [Hume Hwy crossing - so heading North] a big dark hairy thing crossed the road from the right side we had to take evasive action not to hit it, it was close it even put it's long arm out to sort of push us away it seemed. we pulled the car over but did not see where this creature went. It wasn't till about 30 minutes later before we could drive fast enough again to do the speed limit as we still in shock"

So I asked this guy how big he thought it was - he said must of been close to 8 or 9 feet - hard to say as it was running he said. I asked him about colour, he said like a very dark drown. Then I asked him the time, he said about 11pm.

I just find it interesting when you meet a new person and they say of an encounter like this when they have no knowledge of your interest in this subject - that makes it like - ok - well what did those 4 guys see and why make something up if coming on a trip with new people!

I haven't seen this guy for about a year now, but I know he said last time I seen him he gets goose bumps if driving that area.

I love hearing encounters from people who before then didn't know anything about the subject.
Sounds very convincing to me mate.

I would like to go back there one day and spend a few nights there and see what happens.
