Yowies and cars/roads

Hey There,
I was listening to some AYR reports involving Yowie sightings near roads. A recurring comment was the notion that Yowies seem to purposefully expose themselves when they know a car is coming. Just wondering what the theories are are around why Yowies deliberately show themselves? Also are there any missing persons reports involving abandoned cars on the side of the road. Another query is if there is any evidence that Yowies may set traps like placing tree limbs across a road to try and get cars to stop so the occupants will get out?

There are many reports of missing persons and vehicles abandoned on the roadside, some in bushland areas. It is a scary thought re hairies possibly abducting persons this way. However, most would be due to foul play by us humans.
Not sure re placing tree over road to stop cars, but there have been instances where they have placed logs, tree limbs over walking tracks. Although these instances were more to prevent people walking into area.

I'm not sure if "Yowies" standing next to roads can be interpreted as "purposefully exposing themselves". Perhaps, in some cases, they do. But many eyewitnesses have reported the Yowie standing stock still, upright and not making eye contact. The interpretation of that behaviour is that, by ignoring the approaching car, it will "ignore" them and they will not be seen. This has even been reported recently by a man on foot and the Yowie in plain view, but neither moving nor making eye contact. As soon as the witness averted his gaze; the Yowie was gone in a flash.
As for intentionally stopping cars...for what purpose? Yowies would seem to have access to a food source undreamt of in past times: road kill. They would have no the need to stop cars to obtain (eat?) the occupants. Also, if they had any glimmer of intelligence and could form the notion of causality, they would not stop the things that provide them with an endless feast.

I've read many reports of Yowies being see crossing roads. There are so many roads out there that Yowies will continue to be see by anyone who happens to be driving down the road at the time. Wish it was me.

I have always maintained their behaviors differ vastly between day and night.
The majority of road side sightings occur at night. There is no question this is when they become more bold.
A couple of reasons; They are aware we are blind as bats at night, as where they are not.
We are not as active at night, as where they are.
They get away with a lot even during the day because they are a human shaped, and we pass them off as humans at a distance - if we see them at all. God forbid at night....
We don’t normally look sideways when walking or driving.
The list goes on and on.
But this doesn’t explain the blatant desire and stupidity of what I can only believe is wanting to be seen. There’s no other explanation. Is it a thrill due to knowing their abilities over ours at night? If it were during the day, they would be getting out of there as fast as can be - so not to be seen.
But not at night. It’s almost a thrill/challenge. It’s a boldness we don’t hear much of during the day. A complacency? Thrill?
The Audio Report #145 is a CLASSIC example.
This is a topic I can talk a lot about, being in certain situations and reporting on them.
With the statement I began with - their personalities differ from day to night. I believe this is about an awareness about what they can get away with at night, compared to day.
Plus they are safe, because just a few meters and they are gone. We can’t see them.
One night at Kilcoy, we had a large group. Everyone was aware and looking keenly as they marched down a track. I was ahead and stood against a tree in full view. They walked straight passed.
I couldn’t have been that bold during the day if I didn’t want to be seen.
With this knowledge, I think they/some can sometimes push the boundaries of what they know they can get away with.

Many years ago myself and a few mates went four wheel driving at night along Chapmans Parade in Faulconbridge. There was nothing out of the ordinary as we drove along the track so we reached the end sat out there for abit. Within about 10-15 minutes my mates dog just started barking like crazy at something that was outside the car in the bush. Being spooked about it we headed back and the dog was still at the window barking at something that seemed to be following us on the way out. So further along we come up to quite a large fallen log that had been place across the track and none of us wanted to get out of the car to move so we went around it and just nudged it out of the way as it wasn't entirely across the whole track. Then further down the track we came up to another tree that had been snapped and pushed onto the track.
To this day i still get cold shivers just thinking about what was out there or what might have happened if we got out of the car. I went back a few days later and took some photos of the trees but unfortunately i cant find the photo of the fallen log one

If anyone has spent several days out in the bush, far from traffic, you will know how fast cars seem to go when you come across a road.
While some 'roadside sightings' may be the Hairy Blokes playing at courage displays, I suspect many are simply initially curios...
'What the hell is that? Is it coming closer? Oh sh*t is is... and really fast too... what I do? Cross, hide?'
Then the car comes up so fast an instant decision must be made. Often it seems they cross in front of the car because I suspect they have mistimed exactly how fast the car is going. Those that take the other option we probably rarely hear about because they are not seen...

Great, thanks - I was actually planning on sleeping tonight but that has thrown those plans out the window.
So the track was clear and then after a few minutes or couple of hours the logs were across the track?

Thanks Dean. I'm curious if you're aware of any missing persons cases involving abandoned cars near Yowie territories that you suspect or know that could be the result of the big fella?
