What's in your day pack?

G'day everyone, just thought I'd throw this out there in case one might want to know where to start with useful gear to carry while out and about looking for Yowies and the like..
I went for a walk last weekend, so I had my gear out cleaning the dust off the night before..

List of gear as follows...
Sony Handycam AX53
Garmin Virb 360 camera
Tascam DR05 sound recorder
EPIRB
Power bank
Snake bite kit (also useful for other injuries)
Knife
Torch
Laser pointer
Lighter
Paracord
Water filter

Obviously more gear can be added, but imo it helps travelling light, especially when off trail.
If I could add a few more things to that pic, I'd throw in a Survival blanket, Emergency poncho, Ziplock bags, Secateurs, a Silva compass and a local topo map..
If you use your phone for primary navigation which I do, be sure to have your map data pre downloaded and a charger. I use back country navigator, its free and it works well..

Ideally having a purpose built GPS is a wise choice, but until then this gear will suffice.
Above everything else, make sure you dress for the worst of conditions and check the weather forecast before you head off, stay safe..👍

Hi there Pertys80

Good thread, wish I took or was prepared as much as you.....unfortunately when I do get out and about I only take a bare minimum with me.

Backpack with water and some food,

A camera for anything unusual I may come across, and a Phone.

Thats about it, I usually pack light, but should be more prepared I suppose for anything to accidentally happen.

I understand mate, it's easily done as I was a shocker at times back in my NZ hunting days.. I've since taken on a new perspective of enjoying the great outdoors, I firmly believe people do go missing under strange circumstances, and I've been doing my best to avoid that situation ever since then..👍

I would have thought a go pro would also be useful strapped to the chest. If yowies are that intelligent and know about handheld cams a go pro might throw them off as it can be well hidden
