found a rock cairn with the drone..(thoughts)
hiked goobang national park and about 250 meters above the trail end on a cliff face i found a rock cairn while flying the drone .,..some very big rocks with a post in the center ...major mitchell and also john oxley explored (crossed) the harvey ranges in there expeditions ...the work to move these rocks would be more effort then scouts or hikers would do ...it could be a surveyors reference i guess....?......thoughts

Hi triple B
I am a former Parkes lad , my mother still lives there . I have done a lot of 4WDing in Goobang when it was a state forest .
As you mentioned Major Mitchel was well known to climb to the high peaks during his expeditions and leave rock cairns .
One was found relatively recently, approximately 25 years ago down towards Orange in the vacinity of Cookamidgera .
It used to be possible to drive up to the trig point/repeater station up on the range where there were several cairns .
I've camped out there quite a bit as well back in the day as we used hunt wild pigs out there .
Never had anything of the Yowie type happen or even had the feeling if you know what I mean . However it is and should be prime country and is so vast and uninhabited , especially out in those hills .
Your drone pic is so clear . I am sure that if you do chance upon a contact you will have a good chance of getting a decent image of the intended subject with awesome kit like that .
I wish I had one back in the day . It would have saved a lot of foot slogging whilst looking for grunters Lol..
Keep up the great work .
Cheers
