Moore Park yowie encounter.

Unread post by Bluedog »

I've been trying to find out about an encounter that happened on Moore Park Beach earlier in the year.
From what I gather some teenage girls had a pretty full on encounter with one on the beach?
If anyone can share anything they know it would be greatly appreciated.
The girls and family involved where that traumatised that they want to pick up and move from Moore Park?
I've spent some time on that beach as you can drive it up to the mouth of the Kolan River.
This apparently happened in central Qld around 30kms from Bundaberg.
The more I learn, the less I know.

Yes, apparently they first seen what they thought was a man washing his hands in the surf?
Then he stood up?
Possibly some sort of confrontation happened.
Apparently large footprints where left on the beach.
The more I learn, the less I know.

Wow that sounds nuts. I wonder if they reported it to the Police?

It sounds like a similar encounter to yours yowie bait!
From the limited information I can find, it chased the 2 teenage girls (sisters)
On all fours initially then on 2 legs.
After running off as fast as they could looked back to see it standing on the beach looking at them.
Apparently there father went down to the beach with a spear gun to check it out and found footprints where the allegedly had there encounter.
Pretty full on.
Me thinks it's time to go for a ride down to Moore Park pub, have a beer and see what the locals reakon.
The more I learn, the less I know.

What I find interesting about this encounter is the fact that it initially chased them on all fours.
If someone was going to fabricate an encounter I don't believe they would describe it running on all fours? (most people unless they have researched the subject extensively associate yowies being bipedal)
Like I said I'm still trying to piece together an accurate account of what actually happened.
The more I learn, the less I know.

Hey Bluedog that does sound similar to my encounter in a few wsys actually. Not easy running on the beach either. Would have been terrifying by the sounds of it!

A report on this would be a beauty, especially if the spear gun weilding dad got some photos of the prints.

I just pulled the tape measure out to measure 40cm and that's massive, This would have been a frightening encounter for the two young women.

Cheers Ron tracker, would be great if Dean or Sarah interviewed the teenage girls so we could hear a first hand account of what happened!

Thanks Rontracker. That is a beauty! Interesting they said she thought it was a cow when it was running on all fours. I thought it was a bull when it was running on all fours during my encounter.

Hopefully AYR can do a witness audio as Bluedog says. (thumb up)
