Mt Sterling , Vic

Unread post by Austral »

Hi all. Starting to get out looking for evidence now that my kids have grown up. So far, heard super loud roars during a storm at 2.00 am in Halls Gap that seemed to travel from one end of a mountain ridge to the other over about an hour , found a game trail in the Otways ( not far from Beauchamp falls) where the bark was worn off the tree roots with regular traffic and my sceptical wife and me followed it for about a mile in slushy conditions until she got a bad vibe so we turned around. Then , last week we went down to look at the old gold stamper on Mt Sterling called the Wallaby track mine and heard footsteps on sticks but could not see anything. After looking at the machinery we walked back to the ute and got in , all of a sudden i could smell a putrid smell and checked my boots until I realised that kangaroo c**p does not smell that bad and then it just went away . Then on Mt Buffalo , we walked the “ long walk” and i found a few fresh tree falls from bites and they all had grub holes although they could have been black cockatoos.
All the above examples are well off the beaten track.
Anyway , nothing too exciting for listeners but sometimes you just know there is something there ! Cheeres.

No mate, we were going to go out and walk along the Lake Bellfield wall but the wind was too wild. We could still hear the distant howling over the wind and sort of pinpoint its position. We went out the night after but there was nothing about.
I am a torch addict and could light up the lake shore for miles but all was quiet
