Ok, i'm going to sound awfully newbie here, but, how many cryptids are there in australia?

I know of the yowie, big cats & junjardi (sp?)

Any more I should know about?

There are a few Alex.
I'd say at least two Yowie varients,
in addition to the Junjadee.
Then
Thylacoleo Carnifex.
Megalania Prisca.
Thylacine.
etc etc.

I'm not one to consider
ABC's (Alien Big Cats)
as cryptids.
More as out of place exotics.

Wait.. two yowie variants? Ok, this is new to me. What makes them different?

Also, after doing some reading, my theory on the junjadee is that its a chimpanzee to the yowies gorilla.

Which species of Chimpanzee?
There are several.

As for the two varients of Yowies.
I base that on the stories you read about.

In some the Yowie is more Ape-like than Human.
In some the Yowie is more Human-like than Ape.

Different view points from witnessing the same species of creature perhaps.

However, possibly two different species?

Just my opinion.

great question alex,i have wondered the same one.
to folcrum,...the ape like human,as opposed to the human like ape,...could this possibly be the way in which the witness interprets, then describes it.
as in, some people see a greeny-blue colour,as opposed to a bluey-green.
you mention two variants,in addition to the junjadee.now i know i am not a seasoned investigator(and reasonably new here)could you let me know what the junjadee is????and the others.
i read on some other site of a native/marsupial lion??blue mountains area?any info on this one?
and the recent megalong valley yowie sighting,the prominent K9 teeth,short stature???thanks

The junjadee is like the midget of the hominid world. Possibly a spirit too. But I can never seem to find the definiate example of it, so for now, we'll say possibly.

You need to track down Wally if you want info on the Little yowie-people, he knows people who have encounted them and I think, from memory, he has encounted them himself.

The marsupial lion is the Thylacoleo Carnifex.

The Junjadee are only about 4 feet tall,
very solid build and have a stong odor.

The Yowie are much taller, > 7 foot.
It is possible that the more Ape-like and
more Human-like descriptions are simply
variations of the same creature as told
by differing witnesses. Personally though,
I prefer to believe their are two varients.

There is another cryptid I nearly forgot about.
The "Lake Galilee" monster in South Western
Queensland. Its thought to be a relict left over
from when Australia had an extgensive inland
sea.

A cryptid is any creature that has been seen but not documented. Well, thats what I think anyway.

the lake galilee and hawkesubury river monsters have me intrigued, could anyone enlighten me on whjere they came from, waht they look like etc.
