Andrew Calleja, Thylacine hoaxer.

Oh. My. God. Where do I even begin with this tool?

Last night, he posted on a Facebook group 'Thylacine Sightings' with a photo of a photo on a computer monitor, claiming it was a 'new and unknown species of Thylacine'. He claimed to have seen it from his CAR, had time to turn around, pull over, get out of his vehicle, and approach the thing, getting within 5 metres by his own admission. As if that isn't BS enough, he proceeded to:
a) Tell people it had 'golden eyeshine' at 3pm in broad daylight which he claimed you could see in the photo
b) Try to pass off what many identified as some kind of collar or ligature high up near the skull on the thing's neck, as 'a stripe'
c) Say he had multiple photos of the beast, yet despite polite prompting, refused to show
d) Say it was travelling 'at speed', explaining the 'collar' as a result of 'motion blur'

There's much, much more, but holy s#@t, what an absolute load of codswallop.

So much so, that Admins have paused new posts in the group so only Admins can make new posts. Everyone in the group can comment and react to existing content, however, but people are rightfully claiming this Callejo is full of s#@t. Every single person mentioning the collar is met with the same comment, 'it's a stripe' despite us being able to see two clear separate cords and a BUCKLE on a faded red collar or tying device of some kind.

The animal is fox coloured, with black legs, black-tipped pointed ears, a long muzzle. After a full day of people asking to see the full body shot, he posted one, but after covering the entire body of the thing in RED via some computer program. It looks for all the world like a mangy fox (no 'brush' visible, only a long, thin tail nothing like the thick-based tail of a Thyla) with a sliding snare around its neck.

Not sure if you'll be permitted to join if you apply, as it's a closed group, but... https://www.facebook.com/groups/5200194 ... &ref=notif

He clearly has a sidekick in this, a David Liddle, whom I blocked.

He continued to double-down today on his claims, and people began telling him to get mental help or get off the bong/glass pipe.

This morning, he began replying to people urging them to go to a different FB Group page; and surprise, surprise; it's Andrew C's own private group, so I posted that the whole exercise seems to have been a 'teaser trailer' to direct people to his echo-chamber Group.

I did a little hunting of my own, and found out this guy has been peddling his story since 2012, and has posted about it on several Thyla pages. What's super obvious though, is that he says NOTHING about how he came to get the footage on his iPhone back in 2012. There's no story at all that I can find, just his claims it looks different from a Thylacine, because it's a NEW AND UNKNOWN species. He even goes on about what he thinks this 'new species' should be NAMED!

He goes on to talk about getting 'forensic investigation' done at a cost of $12000, so I suspect it's also a circuituitous way to get donations from the gullible, but that's only my suspicion, he's not asked or mentioned needing financial help, but you can see why the alarms were going off. More red flags than a Chinese Army marchpast.

This is what he posted;

"Photo taken on iPhone 4 at my thylacine sighting on January 10th 2012. Grampians National Park Victoria.
Uploaded into Topaz pixel enhancement software 13 years later has brought out some extra details not previously known. Didn’t think they were conclusive so didn’t release them but now pixel enhanced 600% they look a bit better.
It is a thylacine and I 100% know it is as I got with in 5 meters of it before I got my iphone out and took photos, I seen full head and body stripes from my car so got out my car after I did a U-turn and went after it.
It’s not a Tasmanian tiger it’s the same species as what Rilla Martin photographed in 1964 but it’s a sub adult female. They look different due to sexual dimorphism in the species and the morphology is a bit different. Females have a longer snout etc and less bulky head and upper body.
Can anyone see:
Horizontal ear stripes
Golden eye shine from the nictitating membrane known as the third eyelid which dogs and foxes don’t have.
Pointy ears.
The nose over hangs more than the bottom jaw.
Hyena like long powerful neck with strong upper front legs to support it.
Same species as the misidentified adolescent Mundrabilla specimen, alive and well on the mainland as of 2012.
This type have a very specific stripe pattern different to the Tasmanian Tiger but same as the 1964 photo taken 48 years earlier around 100klm radius apart in western Victoria.
I know what I say doesn’t fit mainstream science or what I call fake news articles about Rilla’s animal but best to stand alone in truth than in a crowd of error and yes there is more photos taken that day at the sighting which I draw my conclusion on. This type might be what others called the Tantanoola Tiger in the 1890s.
They grow big and many people reported this species as saying they were terrified during their encounters.
Some articles claimed bullocks had been taken down by the Tigers in the 1890s.
Since I enhanced my images whilst blurry other thylacine have been detected at the scene and it appears they can be in packs of around 8 adults.
There is a mainland type known as the Australian Marsupial Wolf.
Probably better described as the Australian Tigerwolf as it’s the specific tiger like stripe pattern that should be used in identifying the species so Tiger should be part of its name.
Horizontal ear stripes with morphology being long and pointy sets the species apart compared to the Tasmanian Tiger is one example of this. Other photos show other parts of the tigers stripe pattern and I’ve spent hundreds of hours studying them.
Aboriginal Elders know that there is more species and have song and story lines of children being taken.
During my 3rd phase of the sighting I was fortunate to whiteness the bipedal hop at full speed.
These ones have longer legs and tarsals probably adapted to faster speeds and longer distance for predation on the mainland.
Might be blurry but the side shot showing the morphology is not to bad.

This is the second photo he put up today, about three hours ago.

Note the skinny tail from base to tip, just like a fox (derrr...) No thickened tail base merging into the hindquarters where the genitals or a pouch would be in a marsupial.

These dickhead hoaxers are shameless. I've taken SEVENTY screen captures of this debacle, as I anticipate Admin will remove the post or Andrew will begin removing comments he doesn't like. Has he tried this c**p on any other Thylacine sites you're aware of?
He has posts about it in various places, all just as spurious and empty of any detail or fact.

So not only has this guy had THREE SIGHTINGS, he's managed to have time to pull over, get out and activate his iPhone and camera, and still manage to be 'within 5m of it'.

Honestly!

While I have no intention on giving this lunatic any airtime, if people want to find his little echo-chamber group on FB, it's called 'Mainland Thylacine Sightings'. I don't recommend it, obviously, as the page owner ignores any and all logic or comments of a scientific nature, and is openly denigrating of those who 'cannot see'. Possibly another mental case, but don't waste your time, effort or bandwidth on this absolute hoaxer.

Irritatingly, the images didn't come through, so trying again. Edit function here isn't nearly long enough. 15mins would be ideal.

Adding; Thylas are a crepuscular/nocturnal hunter, yet this photo was taken in broad daylight at 3pm by his own admission.
