i have a book at home "river murray pilot guide" and it mentions (put into my rough language)
midget negros (page 37)
a 20 million year old shark skeleton found in 1920,134 miles from the sea (page 36)
and seals in the river (maybe mistaken for bunyips etc) 186 miles from the sea! (page 42)
so if these strange items have wandered in and around the country then what else?
i also read about a tassie devil pair being brought to adelaide from nsw? to the zoo in 1867-one escaped at port adelaide and never seen again! and the other escaped from the zoo and captured 6 years later at piccadilly in 1873
who knows what may have happened if they both escaped into the hills and bred up
how many other animals have escaped and authorities have not told us??

There is no way of knowing how many exotic animals have escaped captivity over the decades.
Circus's use to lose animals all the times in the old days.
So small populations of exotics could be pretty much anywhere in Australia.
Similar things happen in other countries as well.
The number of Kangaroo and Wallaby sightings in England and Europe is on the increase.
