Hi All

Has there been much Happening lately?

It has been quiet.I have had 2 Thylacine sightings reported to me recently but no Yowie sightings etc.
Both people want nothing said about it.

It certainly does look quiet.

All I've been doing lately is fishing.

I was hoping to get into the back of the Bunyip State Park this spring to have a look around, but haven't really planned anything yet.

Well not much is happening on the Big Cat scene.

I had two Panther sightings this month, and a freelance Journalist is doing an article on me, but other than that it has been pretty quiet too.

I haven't event gone researching ghosts this month. I've been just too busy with my fossicking stuff and work.

Big Cats

When my kids get their school break, I'll take a week off work.

Then I'll jump in the car and go up to the Bunyip diversion wier. It's in the northern section of Bunyip State Park. I'll have to treck some distance to the wier. I should be able to fish the wier and keep an eye out for Yowie signs as well. Best of both worlds I figure.

About a week ago now,I got to see my first yowie,I shoul!d say Yowies !3 ! Daylight sighting across a gully,over a distance of approx 300 mtrs. No pics ! One other witness,a 40 yr old male . Observed for15 minutes + . It was only a matter of time out at this spot , there's been so much activity lately. I'll do a full report at a later date.

Sounds interesting Darren..will you be going back with a video camera at some stage.?

I'm looking forward to some highly detailed sketches of the yowies, considering there was fifteen minutes of unblinking absorbtion time!

Your spot sounds good, but still not as good as the spot I've been scoping!!

The report will get there, myself and the other party are very busy and for the report to be as accurate as posable we both need to spend time together and go over carefully step by step as to what was seen by both parties. I myself as a regular researcher took notes on the spot, photos were taken but as I wasn't searching at the time I was totally unprepared and only had my phone with me at the time, which didn't provide much in the way of pics. I've spent alot of time in some of our best locations, but this has been the most productive search area to date! By the way this place really isn't any secret,not by any means. I'm more then happy to show and tell,all I expect is for people genuinly interested, to show respect. No bang sticks, knives, booby traps and so on!It's research not a hunt!Easy enough and fair enough!

I hear regular Yowie calls in the Penrith area near the national park that runsup the mountain.

every 3months or so the dogs in everyones backyard in my area start going nuts barking towards the bush area (which is weird coz all the dogs (about 20) in the area are real quiet

then you will hear the whoooop whooooop call.

everyone in the area hear it.

coming upto 3months now so expecting to hear something in the next few weeks

As stated on the 20th, I was expecting the quarter yearly yowie howl and sure enough it didn't disappoint.....

23rd oct approx. 11:30pm, Dogs went nuts, making wierd howling noises and then the whoop, whoop howling from the bushland.

I really should think about setting up a recorder next time.


Has anyone ever bought the cheap hunting motion sensorcameras off ebay? I just bought 2 from the US and plan on setting them up in the bush as close to where I hear the howling coming from . (Don't look at me like that! I'm on holidays and bored ok!!!)

A recorder would be a great idea. How long have you been hearing the calls for?

Ha Ha, Don’t worry I don’t think your bored, its good to hear someone out there trying to make some progress in the field.

I would try getting those whoop calls on audio first before setting up motion sensor cams and disturbing its territory. Just sit back and be patient for those calls without trying to scare it off, would be the best bet. Once you have the calls on audio then slowly make your way into its territory.

the calls I would discribe similar to the:

1978 Whoop-Howl from Snohomish County, Washington

located on the BFRO site. except each "whoop" is slightly longer by 1 or 2sec and more Gutteral not as high pitched.

It's quite amazing that this seems to be happening so frequently and as regular as clockwork. Maybe they only pass through once every three months, or maybe they are always there, and just make calls every three months.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the moon? There's roughly one full moon every month.....I'm not sure how that might co-incide.

When you first started hearing them, what was your first impression of what it might be, and how long was it before you started thinking that this might be something out of the ordinary? Or did you know straight up? Is this what led you to take an interest in the topic?

It was raining the other night... someone else on these boards mentioned something about rain. Though i do know it wasn't raining the other times as I went outside to yell at the dogs who were going mental.

I'm going to save a pic from google earth which shows my street and the rough area that the calls are coming from and I'll post a link to it on here when i get the chance. Just to show how close The neighbours and I are to the bushland and how close it is to the Blue Mountains.

My first Impression: SH!T Scared! because 2 nights before, i had received and watched on my own (my wife was out at the time) a Bigfoot dvd which had recordings of the Whoop Howl. So when i heard this one near my area in Real Life I just froze. I was in my backyard and it was so loud I thought the creature was in my backyard (only 400m block).

My first thought, even though it was a joking thought to myself, was Yowie.

That was about 4years ago. Next day I was on this site reading about the Leura Cascades, Blue Mountains 1999-2000 sighting who had discribed whoop whoop noises and i dropped an email either on this site or Tim The Yowie man (I don't remember it was awhile ago). I am down the mountain about 1hr walk or 5min drive from this area and the bushland I hear the noises all connect to the Leura bushland. And coincidently it was roughly around the same time as the wentworth falls - 2003 sighting which also is about 1.5hr walk from me. Except I vaguely recall it was in October and not August that i first heard these calls.

I didn't tell my wife because i thought it would freak her out even though she is into crypto stuff as much as i am. but 2 days later we sat down to watch the 2nd Bigfoot dvd that i had received and it too played the Whoop calls, my wife turned to me and told me she had heard those calls 3months previous. She had gotten up in the night and was sitting on the loo when she heard them. Our loo window looks out towards the bush and there are 2 houses next to us before you get to the bush area.

Forgot to answer your question about my interest in Crypto stuff. I have been interested in bigfoot and lochness since i was 5 (I am 30 now), i even have the lochness webcam bookmarked.

My wife is the same. she grew up in rural nth sydney past the Hawkesbury. she grew up on 100acres and she has stories of sightings of yowies, and big cats either from her own experience or her older brother.

Her older brother aged 45 saw a big cat when he was about 9. He only saw the backend of it side on as it walked back into scrub, he says it was whitish tan with stripes.

Also about 2 years ago there was a news story about a young guy who got attacked by a big cat in that area (the cat was sitting on his driveway/firetrail). My Wife went to school with his sister.

My wife has stories about finding branches snapped or bent into "X" position on their property. and Howling which sounded like a woman being murdered coming from their area. Other neighbous of theirs heard it too and there were calls made to the police by all neighbours.

It gets quite interesting living in an active area. I think we're due for some rain over the weekend, I might go bush for a sticky beak.
