Since we don't have a specific forum for the Thylacoleo carnifex or Marsupial Lion, I figured it might be an idea to make one here.

There are a number of threads spread around AYR discussing this cryptid, so I'll link to those here so we have everything in one central location.

In the meantime, here's a show that discusses the beast a little if you're not familiar with Australia's possibly most fearsome marsupial cryptid.

1. Is this a pic of a marsupial lion? viewtopic.php?f=52&t=3313&hilit=Marsupial+lion

2. Composite image and story by Paul McLeod (thanks Paul) download/file.php?id=5876&mode=view

3. Mention of the Thylacoleo by Neil Frost viewtopic.php?f=45&t=3404&p=33017&hilit ... leo#p33017 in the thread 'Do you believe them to be marsupial or primate?'

4. Thylacoleo Roadkill? thread: viewtopic.php?f=52&t=3224&p=19070&hilit ... leo#p19070

5. Mentions of the Thylacoleo viewtopic.php?f=45&t=2616&p=14632&hilit ... leo#p14632

6. Very short one 'Queensland Tiger' comment thread viewtopic.php?f=45&t=646&p=5129&hilit=thylacoleo#p5129

7. Mention of fox paw in scat of supposed Thylacoleo viewtopic.php?f=45&t=248&p=2273&hilit=thylacoleo#p2273

Please, if you have any great links to stories about this beast, feel free to add them here.

Gary opit has shared a book from the early 1920’s , put in some pics so all can read, very cool, best part is the book was written before the so called extinction of the tassie tiger, I’ll find the pics

Excellent photos of the text, Hominidhunter, thank you! :)

I had read of the Thylacoleo up north, but nowhere else, and this book excerpt mentions that range, Tully, Atherton. Nice find, and thank you for sharing it.

Just found someone selling a copy of that book on eBay, HominidHunter - $140

AND found this nifty 52 minute long video about the Thylacoleo skeletons found in a cave on the Nullabor Plain (much as the Thylacine mummy was).

Enjoy!

My Grandmother borne in 1919 and long since passed on used to tell of a type of wild large cat that she used to see often where she grew up out around Warialda and Biniguy in far western NSW .
I remember her saying that they would sit up in the wilga trees that grow out that way. ???
She was old when I was young so my recollection of her story is vague at best . But I certainly remember her telling me about it and how scared she was of the thing !
Not sure if what she was talking about is one of these critters but she most certainly was not talking about a domestic pussy that’s for sure.
Are there other forum members that have heard of this type of animal or know of older relatives from out in the north west of NSW who may have additional reports of such an animal

Holy smokes, Al, that would certainly be something I'd like to know more about!

Thanks for sharing, wow. Good luck in your search - it would be good to find out!
