It's Time

Unread post by David »

After 8 years I'm changing direction.. here is an explanation and a thankyou to those here that have helped me over the years. I will still keep my ear to the ground but obsessive active research is over..

Do not be too despondent AustralopithecineOz no doubt over the eight-year period you have achieved a great deal. I don't believe you are any different than all the other researchers who have taken on the task of trying to prove the existence of the esoteric Yowie. I say all because no field researchers (probably hundreds) have been able to discover the Yowie being a reality. We know they exist but it can't be proven and that is the way it is going to stay until they (Yowies) decide otherwise.
We also know that people have seen these creatures from time to time but always an unexpected encounter no one setting out with the intention of tracking down these cryptids intentionally has had any success. They pick and choose as to when and to who they reveal themselves to. Any logical thinking person and I think that is what scientific researchers are logical thinkers would ask themselves why is it that in areas that are known to have prevalent Yowie activity or known Bigfoot hotspots in the US and yet have been unable to accumulate any positive proof of their existence?

But remember there is no secret that time will not reveal. (detective)

Australopithecineoz, if it makes you feel any better, the reason I haven't posted up any of my videos is because I have nothing interesting to share. You've already beaten me in that department.

This isn't an easy hobby because there is no black and white.

In my opinion, this forum is inadequate. It mixes field researchers with armchair researchers with interested visitors, with flesh and blood campaigners, with paranormal campaigners, with religious zealots, with sceptics, and with yowie encounter witnesses themselves. Too many cooks spoil the broth.

Field researchers need to have a private section all to themselves they can privately discuss their findings before findings are aired in public.

Thanks Black. In all those years of looking I really only captured, what I think, are audio recordings of them. But having said that what one group of people hear as bipedal "walking" and "running" another group of people hear as a wallaby grazing or hopping. That was my experience. I think I may have captured eyeshine on another occasion on a trail camera but what is to say it wasn't a possum up a tree. All other efforts with a trail camera were fruitless. I also thought I had found two footprints over that time but neither had obvious "toes" so in reality could have been degraded human boot prints.

Not to say I didn't enjoy my time in the bush as I progressed. I did and I will continue to bushwalk and camp but not with the tunnel vision focus on obtaining evidence I was consumed with for so long. I can say with a personal certainty now that trail cameras will never solve the conundrum of gaining photographic evidence. I can say that based on the bush floors of the areas I visited they don't leave discernable footprints. I can say though on a more positive note that, I think, they make noise which has been amply proven by Rusty's recordings if not my own and an experience I had with another researcher one night around 2012.

In a nutshell I'm just over consistent, sometimes several times a week, field research. It has cost me too much in time, equipment, fuel, batterys etc.. and the disappointments. I still believe there is an unrecognised creature of some type "out there" but what it is based on it's abilities I have no actual idea. In fact I know no more about them now than I did when I started this fruitless journey in 2010. What ultimately became an unhealthy obsession.

Who knows? The future may involve another experience and a sighting and I think it is more likely if I am just out there focusing on filming birds and animals and fishing and bushwalking. No more trail cameras and countless hours of reviewing audio recordings. I think I've done the "hard yards" and given it a red hot go. Time for me now to sit back and see what other researchers can come up with. And I wish them the best.

True Dave, you will probably be more likely to have a sighting or encounter now without the gear and intent. Nothing wrong with having a look and calling it a day. At least you had a go!๐Ÿ‘

Agree, you'll probably spot one now, no joke. In any case, you did give it a red hot go, as you said, and that's all any of us could do or ask of. Good on you for your years of searching.

Sorry to hear you've chucked it in Dave because I know how long you've been trying for .

Someone once told me that "no one said it was going to be easy" , how true .

This subject should always be treated as a hoby , anything more than that is unhealthy and unwise . Hobbies have a time and place .

You've collected some very interesting audio so it's not a dead loss , don't be too hard on yourself .

I think the general consensus is the same.
Take a look at "Finding Bigfoot" or those tv shows and expeditions that pour what seems like unbelievable amounts of money into finding the truth always to come up with the same ending sentence " We found nothing conclusive but we still think they are out there..."
You could almost bet your last dollar on that sentence being repeated after every attempt.

Point is that whether your a weekend searcher, professional hunter or major tv show producer - your going to hit a wall.

The question I think we need to ask is "why is there a wall?". What causes the wall to exist and can it ever be scaled or even knocked down.
I've had my experiences with multiple witnesses around me - subject to opinion not all of us agree on what caused the event but it was not conclusive to what did? That gap between is it or is'nt it is why people are trying to scale this wall...not for fame I believe but for satisfaction that its actually out there for real and not some myth.

Maybe its time to take some time and look at the other things in the bush - there are so many wonderful species of flora and fauna to see and document. maybe whilst your doing that you just might have that break thru. (thumb up)

Australopithecineoz, You should have said this famous quote "I'll Be Back" in an Austrian Accent of course.

Thanks Chris.. yes. Hit a wall. I think the wall comes from repeated frustrations. In the end one ends up questioning the point to it all. If these creatures exist why isn't it a simple matter of persistant determination to photograph them? Why hasn't with all of the roadside sightings one not been collected on a dashcam? I think your probably right.. now that I'm not looking I may actually see one.
