Cryptozoology Conferences in Australia: Are there any?

Unread post by Shazzoir »

Hi all,

Just wondered if there are any semi-regular or even occasional Cryptozoology Conferences or Events held in Australia... I've read about similar events being held mostly in the USA for and by the Bigfoot/Sasquatch crowd.

How cool would it be if we had something like this in Oz?

Should we consider having an AYR Open Day or something, that members could travel to for a meet'n'greet? I for one would love to meet you all. I believe there may even be some beers bought for some of you

How many AYR folks would be willing to travel to something like this?

Just a thought...

Kind regards,
Shazz

We had one 20 Oct 2001.This was excellent..
Dean spoke..we heckled him..just kidding. ... :)
Interesting idea Shazz.

We might try it again one day..
The problem is nowdays..most Australians are so
1/apathetic
2/lazy
3/tight arses with cash
4/Get all their "information" (death) off the net for free
Therefore.. it would be hard to get bums on seats...
To change tack for a second and as an example...
For instance... from a marketing perspective.
Its a niche market.. people interested in yowies in Australia/who come to this forum would buy the books by the only authors who are not insane, ie Cropper and Healy.
Wrong.. (no brains)
Very small market in Australia for books/lectures/meet and greets in small niche markets...due to the above 4 points..
Oh well.

Thanks, Mike, it seemed like a good idea but I was wondering about the numbers that would be needed for any kind of Crypto Conference to make it viable, and supposed that it might not be practical.

However, I AM still keen on the idea of an AYR group meeting, if folks on the forums are interested. Just an informal thing, you know, meet somewhere for talking, food, drink, laughs, more talking.

EDIT: Maybe we could do it on a State basis? The NSW folks could meet in one place, the QLDers in another etc and we all report in at the end via the Forum.... thoughts?

Kind regards,
Shazz

...geez Shazz... funny you should say that... earlier today in the... "interesting phenomenon" section... in the... "Gympie Pyramid / Hieroglyphs in Woy Woy" thread... I mentioned about a group of us meeting one Saturday at Woy Woy and going to see the "Egyptian Hieroglyphs" and perhaps having some beers afterwards... two minds thinking alike again eh??? (eek) ... sounds like a great idea on your part Shazz (thumb up) ... I hope that you get some takers and it happens (rad) ... cheers... Stickyfingers. (cool) (happy) (jest)
