Hi Guys have been away with Work for some weeks now good to be back hope eveyone is doing well.

The sound recording is finaly up and running on you tube thanks to a good freind of ours who worked it out for me. If you can remember back when we done the Tablelands road Expedition (other words big wash out lol) Steve picked up a few sounds that no one can identify. I passed to a chap who works at Australia Zoo he couldent put a name to it either.
So here it is...

I don't know what to make of it either! If I didn't know better, I would have said some kind of primate/ape made the sounds, like the grunt/hoot type noise associated with chimpanzees or gorillas. I'm no primate/ape phonics specialist by any means, but those noises sounded to me like curious calls like 'hey get over here and check this out!'.

It also sounded like the recorder was swinging loose or something, or something was handling it - it sounded just like you do when as kids, you are fooling around making recordings with your tape recorder, you know, with all the fiddling noises?

Personally, I would be extremely stoked to have caught those mysterious sounds on tape, I bet the hair stood up on the back of your necks when you listened to it the first time. I know mine did.

good job bb, did you hear these sounds from camp? it just sounds strong and deep enough that the sound might carry a fair way.
was the tapping noise the recorder being handled?
was the recorder in the same position as what it was left in?

...in regards to the actual recording... weird indeed!!!... to me it sounded like a roadie setting up a microphone for a rockband ... ...hey Lil Foot my friend... I deleted my own post as Shazz had posted an answer to Bush baby's post as I was in the proccess of typing mine...and with what I did...it conflicted with her post... hence the reason why I deleted it... nothing to worry about my friend... just no point in confusing things in my opinion...

...in regards to writing long posts and losing them... a little tip from the Stickman... I usually write what I want as my post no matter how long it is and then save it to Microsoft Notepad... then minmise the notepad to the tray... then click on "Submitt" in the AYR Forum... when it comes up as "successfully posted" I then delete the notepad copy... it saves a lot of heartache believe me ... been there and done that on several occasions!!!! ... Hi guys Thanks for that Shazz your an angel. Im not Computer savvy im in my late 40s so the closest thing i had as a kid was the Space Invader games down at the local pub on those big glass top tables ( i was good at that thou).And yes Shazz it scared the c**p out of us hearing it for the first time.

lil foot the noise that you are hearing is the click click sound its the cord that Steve hung in the tree touching it in the breez lil foot you will have to ask Steve22 about that one im not sure if it was handeled or not mate. As for the rest of it we dont have a clue. Funny you say say that about hearing it at camp we dident but if you can remember back when TW said he seen that sapling bend over it was in that time frame Interdimensional Doc scream said makes you think, so its got me buggard. All i know is im kicking myself for not staying the night i say we would have been in for a whopper. Is it a yowie im not sure we are trying to set up another expedition to there next month if all goes to plan... Thanks again for your comments guys and thanks for the helping hand Shazz.
