A possible mammalian strategy instead of hibernation?

Hey all - just came across this article.

People often ask how the Hairy Guy can meet his resource needs and still stay relatively undetected. Obviously it's easier in some parts of the country than others - researchers have just found that this goat in the mediterranean was able to sychronise its metabolic functions to fluctuating resource levels.

I believe every living Species adapts to environment, including Human. Mentally and physically. It's all about survival...

I was trying to remember what marsupials do that's similar, finally got it - embryonic diapause.
