Good find!
The guy is certainly a bit of a storyteller, he is amusing and gets the story across without too much drama. Funnily enough, this area IS rather well known for not only the big hairy guys, but I believe there have also been some little hairy guys sighted in the region... I think there's a report about it here somewhere.

Yer there are plenty of reports from that area - also some in The Yowie book detailing encounters on the Mount Lindsay Highway.
In fact the RTA even stuck a Yowie crossing sign on the Mount Lindsay Highway near the NSW-QLD border. That highway also provides good views of its namesake.... also for a good look of Mount Lindsay and the surrounding area I recommend climbing Mount Barney..... it is a long climb but the view is awesome! It reminds me of the mountaintop in the Close Encounters movie...
