Nice video! Exactly as I remember it! Yep, that's one interesting little place to visit if ever in that neighbourhood! I'm told the square shaped hole you could climb down into the "tomb" area, is now filled to the brim with sand!

Hi Joe,

I was there again not long ago. They are making the entire location residential. Most of it now has 'Lot' markers, and the trees have been marked for clearing. What will come of the Hieroglyphs is anyone's guess.....

Would have liked the 'Probe Cam' that you have to search down certain cracks and openings.

I have the entire series of the carvings on drawn on A4. I think a guy by the name of Paul White has some good research material on the matter. Two trains of thought on it......

Hey Matt,

The Gosford Heiroglyphs are very contentious: some folks believe they are man made alright, but by an old local chap in the 80's. Some folks claim these were first reported in the early 1900's, which blows THAT theory out of the water somewhat, however, the surveyor from Gosford City Council who first reported the Glyphs in 1975 indicated that the original Glyphs have been added to over time which scotches THIS theory too! Some believe they are indeed, genuine. Whatever they are, they are interesting.

"Archeological Diggings" magazine examined photos of the glyphs and claimed they didn't follow correct tradition as to form of writing and the manner in which the Pharaoh's name was carved on the Cartouches. http://www.donsmaps.com/hoax.html

Egyptologist Dr Gregory Gilbert believes the Glyphs are modern-made, and points out the inconsistencies in the Cartouche formats..."Much has been made of the names of two kings that appear in adjacent "cartouches" (although it is significant that the Kariong cartouches are squared, not rounded). The two names are that of Khufu and an unknown person but could be "Neferankhru" which is similar to one of the names of Khufu's father, Snefem. The two names are coupled together under the same nomen and prenomen, indicating that the two names belong to the same person - unthinkable from our knowledge of Egyptian history. As one Egyptologist has commented, coupling the names together was the equivalent to spiritual suicide because it would separate the "ba" or soul from the creative essence of the body."

I therefore tend to believe the majority of these havebeen made in recent times, however, this site is interesting, if you want a bit of a read, and it has some pics too:

Thanks for the excellent video, too, Dean and team - I know there have been several discussions about the Glyphs, and concerns that a new housing estate is being built more or less on top of them. Progress.... maybe the carvers of the Glyphs were trying to have the area declared of National Significance so the buildings wouldn't go up, spoiling the natural wonders of this area...

Why are Gosford Hieroglyphs in the yowie and crypto section..anyway..
The one odd thing about the Hieroglyphs was the rectangular hole, from memory about 100mm square that was bored through a long section of rock..I have a photo of it somewhere..in the "files" somewhere...Joe..do you have a copy..

Hmm, there was a thread created by Stickyfingers on this topic over a year ago. Looks like it was one of the threads that met a nasty demise around that time.

Anyway, as you say say Mike, that rectangular shaped airvent/small crawlspace, is what had me stumped. It features in Dean's video. The four walls of the 'vent' are each comprised of different coloured rock and look to be separate pieces from one another. Considering it is located under thousands of tonnes of rock, it is quite a feat for a modern man to have created and quite a coincidence to be part of the rock featuring those hieroglyphs. Also I know a witness who states she spent time playing at the hieroglyphs in late 1950's.

Nice, I have never heard of these before,

So have they been translated? if so is there a message or story besides the names of the pharoahs?

I would definitely lean towards the modern carving view, but the shaft adds another dimension to the puzzle, has there been any actual scientific study of this site? carbon dating etc?

Here's something interesting not many may know:

According to Cairo Times, in 1982, archaeologists working at Fayum, near the Siwa Oasis uncovered fossils of kangaroos and other Australian marsupials. There's also the unexplained set of golded boomerangs discovered by Prof. Carter in the tomb of Tutankhamen in 1922.

Hrm? Also, I don't know if this is legit or not but its still worth a read. Another ancient Egyptian site in NSW. I've had someone take a look at what pics I could find on the Gympie Pyramid and she claims that they are legit.. just would need a bit of a clearer image to translate them (its fun when you have someone in the family who has a Masters in ancient history)

Just adding some updated info to this old thread. See short Youtube videos below.

Also noticed that the Youtube vid made by Dean in the first post of this topic is now unavailable. If possible Dean could you please reupload that vid that you made re the the Kariong Glyphs showing the burial chamber entrance and you inside the chamber as well. Since your video you made when visiting the site the entrance to the chamber was blocked off/filled in years ago by NSW National Parks from memory.

The NSW State Government/National Parks have recently started causing irreparable damage to the Kariong Glyphs and the immediate area.

Unbelievable. Why would anyone authorise this vandalism ?
