yowies on the north coast of NSW

Hi everyone,
I have been reading post here for awhile now and id thought id contribute. I'd just like to say ever since i was a young boy ive been interested in bigfoot. Although i havent seen the australian version Iam totally fascinated by it. I guess i would like to know if there has been any activity on the North Coast of NSW in particular the Lismore area? Iam keen to spend a weekend out in the bush with some friends looking for signs of existence. Any help would be much appreciated. Thankyou

Apparently mate, this area and up to the Gold Coast Hinterland is like, Yowie Central. I can't tell you exactly where to go, but your starting in the right spot.

thanks romeo, ive heard woodenbong and the grafton area around the clarence river are spots of activity. i guess anywhere remote with dense forest will prove to be a area to check out. have you been on a expedition in search ? any traces ?

Dear Aussie Guy

There have been reported sightings in the Ewingar State forest, which is West of Casino and west of Tabulam. Ewingar State Forest is full on rain forest and is as thick as they come, with millions of snakes and leeches and creeks and waterfalls and lots of forest tucker. Oh yes and caves, just the place and environment for a yowie to love.

ive heard of ewingar, might have to give it a try. You had any luck there Paul ? Any camping grounds there ?

Not really, there is an old forestry area, and there are some clearings near some of the waterfalls, but the forest is pretty full on. As I said there has been a few sightings in some of the creeks. What I do know is that there are a heap of snakes (summer only) in the area and millions of leeches.

But with the reported yowie sightings and it seclusion and remoteness, I would think it to be a pretty good bet.

Dean - Have you heard of anything from this area?

hey peeps i have to say that they are up there, near tabulum. my family are there and they tell me when they go hunting around up there. they know that their being followed, its male by they way they explain it to me. they havent been hunting in the last few weeks because of 'it'. it scared them and they been going hunting around the area for over 20 years, they wont tell me any details but im going to see them and find out for myself in a couples of days.

Wow...Grafton....I have one aunty in Maclean and another in Yamba (Palmers Is.)...so thats only about an hour away...next time I'm over in Aussie visiting I'll have to make sure I get out that way...

are you from lismore? I grew up in casino, ballina and nimbin for a short period of time and now live in brissy. Ive heard stories of some encounters at Dunnon, Kyogle, Whian whain, Drake Evans head (bundgalung national park) Murrwillumbar and nimbin. My dad and sister live just out of nimbin Tuntable falls way in a steep deep valley with a no through road and although she hasn't seen anything her 2 dogs have acted pretty strange on a number of occasions, acting frightend and making weird barks and stuff like that (ones a 40kg purebred American staffy). In the yowie book on the chapter about Junjudee's it says Mullumbimby means little hairy man and another aboriginal word for them is nimbjn (which looks an awful lot like nimbin to me)

if its not to far for you to travel, try sunshine coast hinterland, just west of Gympie, you may find what you want to see.

The East Coast is pretty good right through the cooler months ,I'm kind of West of Gympie and there's more then enough activity out here to keep me on my toes when ever I'm out and about ! It's not just the Yowie getting around out here, there are a number of unusal happenings and sightings around here. Just last week my wife and I saw a BIG CAT cross the road not more than 60 metres ahead of us, and I've made a number of good casts in the last 6 weeks or so ! It's been a very good year for research thus far and I feel it's going to get even better yet .

i tend to go out to clarie hall dam alot to go fishing ( which is close to nimbin) and there is alot of forest out there with not many houses. Iam sure there would be some great places to see there. But of course alot is on private property.
The clarence river is great to canoe down and have alook, but last time i was concentrating to much on fishing to worry about a Yowie lol.
Iam coming back to australia very soon and ill be trying to get out there and do some camping.

I'm at Gympie and there's plenty afoot in the surrounding valleys and hillsides keep my interest peaked as well! Even the occasional UFO report!

i my self have never seen one but my mother has, my partner an australian aboriginal has no doubt of ther existance in this area he beleives they are his ancectors and remembers as achild having to wait outside caves in this area for his father (an elder & respected member of his community) he remembers the smell and wont go into the bush on his own try the grafton/armidale road around nymboida through to tyringham the dense bush there is a wonderland for them you can fell them watching even as you are driving through.

well i was alittle hesitant goin to ormeau to search for my first yowie but for the experience of actually coming into contact and maybe communicating in some way i can see alot better chance there than anywhere else. dean is it advisable to try there due to the previous encounters with that particular yowie ? and what where those sighting recently there ?
