I read the article and this just sux. With all the room in Australia to build housing developments, why put a national treasure at risk?
Australians in this article who are committing this outrage sound like Americans! And here I thought it was just us.

Here’s a direct link.

I’m a bit unfamiliar with the story behind these “hieroglyphics”. Do they have any significance beyond nostalgia or are they just someone’s bush art?

If theres a carving of Anubis on there, they might just be of Egyptian origin. Egyptians were well traveled when they were around.
Here's a bit more info on hieroglyphs in general.

Re: Kariong hieroglyphs
Ive seen the lots marked out too but dont think the actual site is sold or up for sale. I think its too rocky and steep. Could end up someones back yard though i guess. There is no definite thing with those carvings. They mightnt be what they seem. Maybe not that old. I did see though that someone had wrecked that underground thing if i was looking in the right place
