I don't know of any spots in particular but any bushland in and around Kenilworth would be a safe bet it’s just a matter of getting out and about and doing some looking around. I’d suggest sticking to isolated areas and creek beds also.

Cheers

Sunday Creek out past Charley Morlands off Yabba Creek . There is differant forests ranging from woody to lush thick rain forests. Park your car at differant spots hop out and listen to the forest for anything out of the ordinary. Plumber mate of mine was working out at Nanango last week to a newly built house,he rang me up to say he was hearing strange noises from down at a gully must be near the house . He stayed in the house overnight then heard from the builder that the neighbour wont stay at his shed at night-time for he had an experience of some source. Im still trying to find out what ,and if your still around Darren you might be able to investigate more seeing as its up your way.

Another place is on the way to Belthorpe . You turn right off the D"Aguliar Hwy at Stoney Creek Rd. coming from Caboolture . Follow it along donot take the rd to the right to go to the day rest area ( it does have toilets and a swimming hole ) but if you keep going it will take you up the side of the mountain to Belthorpe same deal find a spot and listen to the forest just on dusk is a good time.

Hi Hunter Hunted, I would be very interested if you have any luck out beyond Kenilworth, as I live in Mapleton and often visit the forests in these areas.
Best of luck and look foward to hearing about your overnighter

Thanks Geoff
Will also check Belthorpe out at a later date.Got hold of a map of sunday creek rd,seems to go all the way to Jimna..So my plan of attack is to start at one end and make my way along to Jimna in sections.Has anyone ever done this solo before as I feel I would have more chance solo than in groups?
Just found another road that goes from belthorpe to kenilworth 4x4 only..

Hi Bubbles have you had any luck out back of Kenilworth.
Also how does one post pics on this site as have what I believe to be a tree bite looks similiar to some of the pics on this site .
Cheers and thanks angain

Hey mate - is that a Sunmap, or something else? Have you got a name/id number for it? I'm after a map of that area myself.

Cheers,

Hey Hunter Huntered

If you wish to upload pics to the site you can either use a file sharing website such a photobucket and then transfer the code to your posts

or

Much simpler when you click on the "add reply" button under a persons post there is a spot within that page where it lets you add a file. Click on "Browse" find the file on your computer then add a file comment, and then hit "Add the file" button. It will then be uploaded to your post you can add as many photos as you like.

Hi
sorry for the delayed response, yard duties.
First off all the map I use is a Hema topographic cost about 15 dollars at map shop..

Kenilworth to Jimna broke it up into 6 sections
Section 1 Charlie morlands camping grounds to boolumba falls.
Day 1 was a step climb up the forestry road came accross some minor tree damage but possible bird as found claw marks beneath the marks. That night set up camp about 500 metres off road in a gully.Cooked up a steak and placed a tin of tuna in a tree about 100 metres down from camp just to see if anything was in the area..
About 2200 had something in the distance go thru the bush possible deer not sure. Then at about 2330 had something or someone bash what sounded like a tree on a tree 4 times.Very loud and about 500 metres further down the gully.
No animal sounds in this area which I found strange as u would expect possums and owls, crickets and so on to be out and about.Turned in for the night at about 0200 then up at 0500 checked the tuna tin nothing to report..
Day 2 continued up sunday creek road found Deer ,Dingo and small marsupial prints along the way.Came across a goverment sign on a locked gate stating that the DPI and state forestry are conducting scientific investigations in this area and entry was forbidden..Didnt check it out as had to make my pickup point by 1300 .
Will be returning to this place for further investigation..also to retrieve my trail cam which I left near the gate to see who and what was entering the area...

All in All was a uneventful 2 days apart from the tree sound .Has anyone got any ideas what it could have been.
Will be out thier this weekend to do section 2 but planniing to leave friday arvo to spend night in restricted area .
